I've rooted well over 30 cultivars by now, those that had the highest percentages of "strikes" (a rooted cutting) are these, bear in mind that I live in California where Tea and China, and Noisette roses grow well. I use Mel Hulse's idea of growing cuttings in plastic bags, but I use 2 gallon ziplocs and put the cuttings in 3 plastic band pots per bag. The easiest classes for me to root, were those rose classes which show a more China type growth habit, with thinner stems, and smaller flowers that bloom in clusters, and Tea roses: China, Polyantha, Hybrid Musk and Noisette ("Catos' Cluster" rooted so easily I ended up with 5 plants) and Tea, and the Tea-Noisettes were all very easy to root. The thicker stemmed re-blooming O.G.R. rose classes with more substantial petal substance, that show more of influence of Old European roses, with rougher textured foliage, had a moderate strike percentage: Bourbon,and Hybrid Perpetual. I'd suggest taking 3 cuttings of each cultivar you would like a plant from those two classes. My easiest cultivars to root included: China-Tea"Ducher" Tea "Rockville Peach Tea" " Pactole" Bourbon-Tea "Gruss an Teplitz", Noisette "Catos' Cluster" rooted so quickly, I had 5 plants before I knew it. and of vintage classes: Rambler "The Garland" , Hybrid Musk "Bubble Bath" and "Cornelia" and Polyantha "Perle d'Or" all rooted very quickly. I think all you have to do is select the filter list(s) you want to use from the selection box and that's it. Actually, if I randomly select various choices from the filter selection list, I can watch %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Adblock Plus for IE\patterns.ini change, both in size and time-stamp. You're welcome to try this if you want. I put it together when I was trying to see how certain sites detect the use of adblocker and pop up a "Please disable your adblocker you dirty rat" type message. What it does is attempt to use a JavaScript file called "advertisement.js" to write a hidden div(ision) to the page. The page then checks for the existence of that hidden div(ision). If the div(ision) exists, it assumes you must not be using a working adblocker. If the div(ision) does not exist, it assumes your adblocker prevented it's creation and thus must be working properly. I simplified/modified what I found from a "search", so can't guarantee how accurate it is. Hopefully they'll email you back. Personally, if it's blocking ads, I'd think it's working fine though.

If you have Windows XP, here's a nice, easy way to resize photos. Download and install the XP Image Resizer Powertoy from Microsoft via the link below. Once installed, all you have to do is right-click on an image file (I know it handles jpg/gif files and it may handle others as well). You will now see an option to "Resize Pictures." Click on "Resize Pictures" and you will be given a menu that looks like this: Choose the option that you'd like and click OK. You can use the advanced button to enter a custom size. The tool will leave your original picture untouched. It simply creates another file named "imagename (small).jpg" or medium or large, etc. You can easily resize multiple pictures this way by selecting multiple items from your explorer window (using the CTRL or Shift key), right-clicking and selecting "Resize Pictures". It's a really nice little tool that most people don't know exists and it's much easier than doing the same thing via image editing software. And it's free. Hey John, Good to know !!!! I thought it was a winter hardy one.. along with Wonderful.. Well you saved me again!!! I will see if I can buy another Russian from our Local nursery( that is if they have any in the fall). I did go to the farmer's market to pick up a Persimmon for My friend.... who grow a lot of Indian vegetables and Are getting into growing fruits... I get a lot of Tips for indian veggies from them as they have farms in India. They are the ones who provide me the seed for my veggies :-) The farmer's Market guy has a pomegranate, but is not Russian. Not sure what cultivar it is. He does not know either.. I am guessing Wonderful as that is what seems popular.
