Help please DOCX

Hi all .Can some one help me .I have a new cd I want to look at but my computer will not open it I have a desk top Dell XP it is about 5 years old .anyway when I try to open the file

its says (reader could not open tutorial part 1 DOCX because it is either not a support file or has been damaged it was sent by an email attchment and wasnt correctly decoded) what do I need to do to get it to open this file ?

I found this it said it opens DocX files

.docx files are from Microsoft Word 2007. If you have Office XP or 2003 on your computer you can download the compatibility pack from the link below

what about XP Home edition is the pack compatible for it too?

How to fix doc and docx file?

Two ideas: (1) In Word 2013, do a File>Open>Computer and Browse to the file. Click the drop-down arrow on the Open button and select Open and Repair: (2) For the DOC file, you should be able to see the text (no formatting, of course) by simply opening the file in a text editor, such as Notepad (this doesn't work for DOCX). For example, you may drag-and-drop the DOC file into an open Notepad window. See if the following article would help also: https://community.office365.com/en-us/f/155/t/255386 Good luck!

You are brave, I could never let someone tile anything, unless I was able to check the layout daily! I hate the look of 1/3 offset, so I prefer to go with stacked when there is no other choice. I find the repeating stair-step pattern busy and prefer the straight simpler lines of the stacked pattern. You need someone to do a scale drawing of the layout to get a feel for how the patterns will work. Next best thing is if the tile installer will prop some tiles up in the different patterns and take some photos for you. Match the grout to each tile color. Good luck!

I down loaded Compatibility pack .I save it on my desk top but I put my cd in and it would not open it.All it would do is let me save it .Could you tell me what im doing wronge .

do you have Microsoft office on your computer? if not then that won't help you. If you do not have Microsoft office then you can download the free open office and it will open those type files.

I trid to download open office and it said download failed
I must not have something or missing something that's keeping me from downloading it.
I do need this badly can some one explain the steps for me

Click the link that ravencajun gave you, the page opens, now click I want open office, page changes click the Download window on that page. Download it to your desktop, once it says download complete you click on the little Icon on the desktop and that will guide you to install open office.

can you please answer the questions when asked if not we have no way to know how to answer you. We asked do you have any version of Microsoft office on that computer now???

you can also try downloading open office from here
OpenOffice.org 3.1.1
click where it says download now a new page opens and a pop up box with the actual download will come up for you to save to your pc.

but I think maybe the easiest way for you might be to just use an online conversion tool like this no need to install any programs just do it online

this is very strange and really had me confused! On the first page our forum this post is listed as started by Owbist when in fact as we see here it was started by renagirl-2008.

raven .I dont think I have microsoft office I have the home verion .the only microsoft I see in my docs are microsoft net framework 2.0 service pack 2

microsoft net framework 3.0 service pack 2
microsoft net framework 3.5 sp1
microsoft compression client pack1.0 for windows xp
microsoft user mode drive framwork feature pack 1.0
I tryed to down load open office and it poped up run and I did this 3 times I think I messed up some where
should I try to take them back off ?
they went into my doc folder it didnt ask where I wanted to put them .
I also use firefox
