I just have to share this link with all of you. Our Miss Candy did the most amazing transformation on an old dresser. She is a very talented painter. Please take a look, you won't be disappointed. Luvs

WOW...thanks, luvs...candy, what a terrific transformation with your painting on that dresser! Your GD's room certainly is fit for a special "princess" ...love the mural, too! Gosh Luvs, "great minds think alike"! I was going to do the same post tonight. LOL. Candy is a woman of amazing talent! To think she handpainted that dresser...WOW.
Her little GD is one lucky girl.

Candy, darn it, how did you get all those decorator AND painter genes? No wonder I got left in the back of the line. Sheeesh.

If the gang here all wasn't so nice, I'd probably have a huge inferiority complex. LOL.

PV--I grew them all from very small plugs. Most of them I got when Santa Rosa gardens when they had their clearance sell. Actually I think it's going on right now. They were like $2 a plug. These have been growing for 3-5 (or more) years now. The plugs are very tiny, but they will grow if you take care of them. I usually leave them pots for a year or so before I plant them out. I have grown the following from seed (they are still in the very small plug stage right now)--- festuca- elijah blue deschampsia- wavy hair elymus magellanicus-blue wheat grass stipa tenuissima- mexican feather grass I've heard the miscanthus varieties probably won't come true to seed. Oh, I missed a sentence up there LOL, that is the bush/tree with the deck that we cut down. The SO was cutting it while I was taking pics. I had to get them taken before he cut down all the tree/shrubs in pic #2 because I wanted before and after pics. In pic #10 if you look in the background at the bottom of the hill you can see one of the neighbors houses, this is the one I want to block the view from. I am planning on planting some fast growing trees in a line. In pic #9 on the right side of the pic is my holding flowerbed we put in too, I am using it as a nursey bed for young plants. I didn't take a pic of my WS containers LOL. Dan, tell the kids I said thanks for thinking about me, but I think we will leave the scratching and rubbing to lavish on them! LOL. Bunny, I am a country girl through and through, I can't stand the thought of living in the city although we did consider it but only for a minute. I like being in the country and NOT seeing my neighbors everytime I go outside. At the other house the trailer park folk would pull up chairs to watch us that I think that is 1. RUDE and 2. CREEPY, WHO does that? Joan, I am so totally pleased to be here. It is a small country house and it could use some work but I am tickled to finally have a place that I am surrounded by nature and not homes. We even have a nice size front porch to sit out on when we get it cleaned off LOL. It is so peaceful here, with the exception of the little &^*&^* that run up and down the main dirtroad on the trail bikes and 4 wheelers but if I had one I would be too! hehe. I am just so pleased to be here. A lot of folks wanted to see the place and this thread was the easiest way for me to share. In the front yard where that little ridge is, we are putting a flowerbed in there too, to make it more level. Can't understand WHY someone would make a cut out section in the front yard but someone did! Crazy is all I can say. Ok, well, thanks for the comments. Have a great night. :) Fran

Thanks Luvs, for helping me out.

Karen, I did get an artistic gene, but also got 2 left feet and as my Dear Mom says "I can't carry a tune in a bucket with a lid on it." LOL, but also one of my 7 defining moments (a Dr. Phil reference) when I was told not to sing in my 3rd grade Christmas pageant, but just to mouth the words. That still stings 50+ years later. :(
I know I can't sing, but really, have you heard little kids sing? I mean, really, how badly could I have hurt that performance?? Okay, don't answer that. LOL Actually, I am over it, but it illustrates my true vocal ablilty.

Seriously, I just love to create things, whether it is sewing, painting, decorating, gardening, or crafting.

I also painted a full wall mural for my oldest DGS when he was small. I'll try to find a way to scan the picture of it as it was before I had a digital camera, and once he got older, it got painted over, :( but, I didn't want all his friends to tease him either. So, even though it was hard to see it go, I understood.

Candy, I'm right there with you when it comes to not being able to sing or carry a tune. Heck, I can't even clap in rythm to the music! Guess we all have our strong points and then those that are sadly lacking, don't we? I think it is so great you are able to paint, craft, and decorate so beautifully--and this dresser and mural are a perfect example of that. ;o)

I can sing and even play a boatload of instruments, but that dresser is AMAZING! You painters have talent and imagination and patience that is beyond anything that I can comprehend!
