Best Anti-Virus for Android Tablet?

I'm a new tablet owner (Asus Transformer) and wondering what security system to load on it. I run Microsoft Security Essentials on my laptop. Can I put this on my tablet and, if so, how? Or what might be better to use? Thanks!

NO you can not put that on Android the best is Lookout and it is free, and let me say how jealous I am that is one fine piece of technology you have there, would dearly love one.
You can just go to the android market from your tablet just click on the icon that says market then do a search there for lookout security.

that is what you are looking for. you can just click on the download then install button right there on your tablet and it will install it for you.

Let me know if you need any help all of my tablets are Android and I have a LOT of apps I love on mine and can share which to get. For ebook reading I love aldiko which you can get from market, you can get kindle and nook apps from there too if you would like those.
When in the android market just do a search for what you want or select the categories button to see the break down there.

I am thrilled with my Transformer! Since I'm new to android technology I am amazed at what it can do! I have a lot to catch up on!

grandms you should be able to use the cable that plugs into your phone and is a regular usb on the other end, connect it to your pc, then on your phone you may have to select that you want to use it to transfer not charge and you can move all your stuff over that way. Look in your manual mine tells just how to do that. You can also email it to yourself and download it from your email on your phone to the phone itself. If you do not have Astro file manager you might want to get that to help you keep your stuff organized. OP, I detect a bit of concern (or maybe even paranoia) about programs on your PC. The Android world is no haven of safety in that regard. An app is a program, it's different word for the same thing. There have been many outcries about some Droid apps that access and transmit back to the developers' home base information that's wholly irrelevant to the app's function. Your location (determined by the GPS function or cell tower location for phones) as an example, your browsing history or data from your address book are others. Don't think that sticking to apps from big name companies is any solace, because Google (the "owner" and developer of the Android system) is as guilty as anyone. The best protection is to be judicious about what you install, and delete what you find unncessary. Your words - remnants, tentacles- suggest a concern (whether for the PC or Droid worlds) that I'd suggest you just learn to live with these things and move on. They exist, they can't be avoided, and so long as you have a good anti-virus program on your PC, you can be reasonably confident that their presence will be of no real consequence. I know some will disagree, but I think having concern about things you can't really change is a waste of time.

Interesting stuff about Activia, Lydia! No, I wasn't eating it, and yes, I have a problem with dairy, so I don't drink milk. It's not a digestive problem, though; I'm allergic to a protein in milk. I don't eat cheese either, but that's because I have to avoid saturated fat. Funny, I was taking l-lysine just before this happened. I felt sick on Thursday, and had trigeminal neuralgia. I thought it was warning me of a herpes simplex outbreak, and started pushing lysine immediately. The symptoms went away, so I thought the lysine had worked. Then on Saturday I came down with the fever. Yes, my yogurt is definitely real. I was buying plain, non-fat Dannon or Greek yogurt, in quarts. I'm an inveterate label reader. BBoston, your experience really does sound similar (except for the "both ends" part). Like I said, if things haven't drastically improved by Monday, I think a visit to the doctor is in order. I tried to last until 4:00 without eating, but couldn't do it. I just had some food and am waiting for my blood sugar to rise. It's an awful feeling when it gets terribly low. So I'll go to the reception, bringing the food and wine, and if it turns out that I'm unable to stay, so be it. I gave it my best shot.

@bengz6westmd "I was prb'ly visiting it on Windows" If I understand correctly, the sites had their databases (on their computers) broken into. Nothing you, an AV, or a browser could have done to prevent that. (just use reasonably complex passwords and don't reuse them on other sites, especially your bank, eBay, Amazon, etc.) I assume they used a mysql injection attack? At Houzz (and probably the same at the mint forum), the passwords were well encrypted and "salted" (to make them unique) so it would likely take an unreasonably long time to crack any but the simplest passwords. I've never tried to hack, ethically or otherwise so I don't fully understand, so may not be getting it totally correct. I run mysql (and apache2 and php) in Linux for my own use. Is it vulnerable? Maybe. It's kept up-to-date but I'm not a security minded coder, just an amateur, so possibly my code has holes. But it's not exposed to the web. Not that anyone would care to dump my movie database anyway. :-) Off topic but... If you're adventurous and/or bored and have php-cli:Output looks something like this: Not exactly what I use but taken from it. Don't pass a length and get 32 characters. Pass it a length and get that many characters. Characters are taken from the "chars" array which can be modified to include only characters that most sites accept.

Android is a separate operating system from Windows, so there is no Window-based program you can install on it, just like you can't take Windows software and run it on an Apple computer. I agree with ravencajun about Lookout. I have it on my Galaxy Tab and my android smartphone and it seems to work well. And the free part is nice, too!
