I don't think your web browser has any bearing on your email. I've been using firefox for a long time and I don't get any of the kind of spam you are referring to. Maybe it you tell us what your email client is (outlook express?) or if you use webmail like hotmail or gmail someone can help.

My hotmail is always bogged down with spam. I also have yahoo, but it doesn't get spammed. I have firefox.

You say you do not open these Spam mails yet you know the content. How can that be? If you are viewing these through the preview window that is the same as opening the things. You need to set your email client so it only shows the header and not the preview pane underneath. That way it is easy to delete the junk before reading the good stuff. I get between 2 and 6 a day and just accept that as part of owning a computer. Sad but......

Then if you are in doubt any time you can right click on a header, click Properties/Details/ Message source. Expand this to full screen and you can then pick out the content to see if it is Spam or a real email.

I Use Firefox, have Hotmail, and use Incredimail for a mail manager, and don't get spammed...knock on wood.

Owbist .. no I don't open spam and don't need to because when you get an email with a subject of "Check out my large penis" & believe me that's mild compared to some of the subjects I get so I'm pretty sure of the content involved. If I visited porn sites or other crap I could understand getting this stuff but since I don't .. how in the world do I get these disgusting things? How is it that I get on these lists? I thought one gets spam from sites you visit that use cookies for tracking. I'm just dumbfounded that I am getting all this since switching from IE to Firefox when basically all I do is email friends and family and visit this site.

Starting to get the spam when you switched to firefox must be a coincidence. And yahoo seems to do a good job blocking spam for most users. Since I have never (knock on wood) gotten any spam to speak of I don't know what to suggest. Maybe one of the spam blockers found at this link: google search for spam blockers will help. I hope that someone who has used one of these will read this and help.

Do you only have one email address? I have more than 1 and when I register anywhere as we need to on this site I use my other address, not the main one provided by my internet service provider. The main address is only for family and friends. If that address becomes overwhelmed with Spam you can quit using it and create a new email acco8nt to start again.

Also all these emails with dozens of names and addresses at the top are harvested by these Spam artists. I have asked folks to use the BCC (blind carbon copy) so the addresses are invisible but few take any notice.

I have read some good reports on the Spam blockers Bob wrote about, you might consider using one of those and see how much it reduces your Spam. If you do it would be nice to read about how effective you consider it to be. There are always lurkers who value information like that.
