30' induction: Miele or Bosch-controls & hob layout

Unfortunately, I'm unable to get a 36" cooktop, but still need the ability to use multiple large pans (10"-13" bottoms). The Miele and Bosch both have more than one large hob & true timers - features important to me, but not sure what to consider as I try to determine which layout is best. (Miele: 11", two 8", one 6.25) (Bosch: 11", 9", two 6")

I have tried the Miele 36" and found the displays confusing and the +/- controls a little tricky. My impression is that even less information is provided on the 30" and was wondering what experience actual owners have had. The display on the 30" Bosch 500 series seems clearer & more intuitive, but I'm not sure about the two 6" hobs. Would be grateful for any feedback - contractor needs me to make a choice so he can template counter tops...

I have the Bosch 800 36" and love the Steel Touch controls and surface display. It is easy to use, easy to understand, and very responsive. I use the 7" front left hob the most and the 9" front right the next most. For me, the 36" layout was better. I was able to steal a little surface space from the cabinets on each side of the cooktop cabinet to make it fit.

I just got the Bosch 800 30". I find it very easy to use and tho I didn't want any stainless finish at all, think it looks very nice. I'm not a big cook but I've had no problems with the (new) pans fitting onto the burners. My only prob is learning what temp control to use.

We thought of doing this - but so far have decided to go with a 36" induction cook-top and if we need gas cooking we will have it outdoors... I really like the simplicity of induction. We are leaning towards the Bosch 800 series...

We chose a JennAir 30” slide-in for our first induction range. We cook a lot and LOVE induction. However we have had too much trouble with the JennAir for the price. bought it in late 2018. The element burned out on the big oven (shortly before Thanksgicing during covid so we cooked our entire dinner in the Breville SmartOven Pro.) and took 3+ months to fix. The oven stopped heating properly a second time and this time it wasnt the element, it was the control board. $500 later, the iven works again but for how long. the service rep who did the repair said that both the board and element should last 9-10 years. more like 2-5. the top design also has a rubber gasket that collects food and, within 1 year, started breaking down. it is impossible to get the crumbs out. yuck No, I would not recommend the JennAir

sherri1058: I pretty much agree with you: reliability is key for me, but neither the online reviews nor Consumer Reports always gives one a clear bottom line, at least for me. Negative reviews may overly influence me. But re. the function of appliances these days: I think many digital interfaces are way over-designed with too many layers to go through to set it -- that's what I want to avoid on my oven choice! sjhockeyfan: Thanks for your input -- I appreciate it. Most of the negative comments have been from the Benchmark flex users, I think. I am trying to "gang" purchases as much as reasonably possible, but expect that will still mean 2-3 brands, at minimum (Bosch cooktop and/or side swing oven + DW, for example). htc2015: I was given links some time ago (sorry, did not save) that assured me that there were no significant health risks, except some potential risks to a pacemaker user. I am hypochondriacal and have had cancer, so I took this seriously.

The oven is replacing the under counter fridge/freezer. That is 27". To put in a 30" oven we would have to remove cabinets. Unless there is some way I don't know about to get a 30" oven in there. Update: due to the fact I have no idea if a Meile 30" or 36" induction would be able to go over another brand's 27" oven, I may be doing a 36" Bosch Benchmark because that 100% can go over an oven. Nice to know that I know of one certainty. Really hope that instead of the Bosch induction I can make a Miele work though.

We have the Miele 30 inch and nothing seems tricky to me.
+ raises the temp and - lowers the temp. The main on /off
enables all hobs to be turned on.

I have the 30 Bosch 500 and it is perfect. No messing with plus or minus at all. The heat goes to 9 with half stops along the way. So I start my scrambled egg omelet thingy at 7. If I wanted to go to 4.5, I would just press 4.5. Boils fast at 9 plus boost, but they all do. I can use the smallest hobs for a larger pan if I need to.

I am pretty sure, altho untested, that I can use a smaller pot on a larger hob and it will work just fine.

Also, I have no rattling, noise, vibration, except yesterday I remembered to listen for bothersome noises. I put my head, ear close to the pan and very fainly felt or sensed a slight cycling but when I raised my head to it's normal position, there was nothing.

I have read that noises can result from inexpensive cookware but I have very low priced, for the most part, induction pots. Many are from T.J. Marshalls, Home Goods. Chefology did not work on my induction but my Macy's works very well.

I am thrilled with my Bosch. Haven't learned the timers yet. Just haven't done a lot of serious cooking as it's summer and we are empty nesters and grill outside. Boiled pasta water, scrambled hamburger, eggs in the am.
