Microsoft Windows Vista Security 2012

This past weekend a terrible thing happened to my old computer (thanks be to God that is was not my new computer). When I opened up the computer, in the lower right hand corner was a program running a "scan" of my computer - I knew I had not loaded such a program, but I could not stop it. I tried to open Malwarebytes, but got a message from that it was a Trojan. Tried to open a Word document, got the same message. Then tried to open IE and got the same message. By that time I knew I had a problem. So shut down the computer, unplugged it, and the CPU is now just sitting.

Does anyone know how I can rid the computer of this malware? Since I have a new computer, I normally would not be concerned; however, I have not transferred all of my data files (documents, pictures, etc.) to my new computer.

Any ideas will be appreciated.
