Today arrived. My husband asked that we do the exploratory last night to give him more time. BY bedtime I had dosed my friend with two tabs of tramadol. This was the start of a really bumpy night. I picked him up to enjoy the comfort and smells of the bed but he could not settle and jumped off to vomit for the last time. We had to give a second dose of tramadol sooner then allowed along with a dose of ace. I had asked for rimadyl hoping to pick it up this morning. There is no need for the rimadyl. We all are at peace. My husband collpased in the garage as I was gathering feed for the chickens. He finally understood . He slept on the bathroom floor with my boy . As much as he drives me crazy I have a good hubby. I knew I would find peace once this all ended. I have done it before. For those looking for help ...... you need to be the voice of your pet. YOu need to stand up and take control when the vet still pushes his agenda. I refused exploratory surgery cause his tongue was already showing anemia. I did not want him in pain from his illness and the surgery. I am pissed that I did not have a stronger pain med. Last night was horrific. I found that keeping a journal of his food,medicine and activity helped me to make decisions. I cringed seeing the clock strike 5 knowing I only had the internet for comfort. It was the internet that told me about cat food and baby food to be offered if a dog refuses his food not my vet. So a warm huge hug to those who post their troubles and woes since it lays a path for those who follow. There is no high jacking of this thread. We are all searching for how to make the best choice. I made the best choice early this morning. I am crushed , beaten but at peace. I thank you . To arkansas-girl........... My first dog was also a labrador retriever. She presented with chronic ear infections and ruptured eardrums. In fact our local vet told me after the third ear rupture that he can not help me. I asked who should I go see and he said "IDK". SHe also licked her paws raw and had her skin turn black along her abdomen. After many months we ended the process with her being placed on allergen shots and prednisone. I would record your dog's food and her activiities and health history such as her skin condition, ear issues, weight gain or loss. I would also change her diet to simple protein such as deer, bison, or rabbit feed. Do not feed her any pork, beef, chicken and turkey or lamb. The former all eat grass where the latter all eat corn. NO store bought treats ,give veggies and fresh fruit instead I would apply A&d ointment to her paws and then place socks over them using vet wrap to hold in place. You could even use baking soda or epsom salt washes by letting her stand in a warm pan / bucket or bathtub. I would treat her paws as if she has a chemical burn and allergies. When a dog has pain they lick the site...... her feet hurt. This is not a simple fix and the allergy testing is not cheap . I would change the diet to the above mentioned. YOu need to be diligent cause some of the above diet has potato as a starch which is also an allergen. It sucks to have a problem and no solution. It is maddening to be so vocal and have no one listen. I hope what I post helps.

I've used the water bottle in the past to keep my cats off the breakfast table and after a couple of times all I had to do was set the bottle out on the counter and they would walk away. Have a bottle with you and if he's waiting at the door as you're entering from outside, a quick spray won't hurt him but will get his attention. Just try not to hit him directly in the face. Otherwise, the other suggestion to put him in another room will direct his attention elsewhere while you bring in stuff. Does he have a tower, window seat, toys, things to climb, etc?? If you decide to walk him (yes, cats are walked on leash) be very aware of dogs and make sure the leash fits securely. I have a Maine Coon I tried to leash walk and if I stopped and let him just lie around he would roll, twist and turn, and before I knew it he was walking away a free cat. After trying 4 different harnesses, I gave up. Fortunately, his escapes always happened on our property. Some cats are just drawn to the outdoors and this may or may not be an ongoing battle.

Right I absolutely agree with the last few posts. What will it cost me to fight and what do I stand to gain? It probably isn't worth it and they know that which is why they say no. If you look closely at that option picture the doors to the play room are ever so slightly dashed. I never noticed that until they pointed it out 3 days ago when I asked about the doors. But that's the issue. Options should be clearly communicated. There should be no question about it. Also, I never received a door and window schedule which would have been an opportunity for them to communicate it wasn't standard early in the process. To whoever asked. Yes we got the raised ceiling and we went for the picket rails (nothing on that one step though), but atleast they indicate that is an option. The playroom is an option and the flex room is standard, just without the doors. The raised ceiling is clearly indicated on the option drawings as optional just like the flex room double doors are. Not so clear on the playroom double doors. Would filing a complaint with the builders association accomplish anything? Or is that a joke like the better business bureau? I think they are now punishing me for even challenging them on this. They have moved my closing to one day after my rate lock expires (coincidence?). So that costs me another $500. They overall are still early, but told me early November that closing would be December 12th so I got a 30 day lock to the 15tth. They slipped 14 days and just now tacked on another 2 days. I get delays but they shouldn't tell me in early December they can't meet the 12 and have to slip it to the end of the month. I've told them several times I'm in no rush to close. Did this just start happening ? Or was it a gradual change. That would be telling. If it just started up it's probably related to one new change. In that case I would suspect an antivirus scan at startup. I've had that happen before. It's also possible to have a defragger run at startup. One way to tell that is if you open Task Manager and under the Processes tab, check the I/O Reads and I/O Writes columns. Click on the the column's heading so it shows what's highest at the top. Click again if necessary for the correct ordering. (If those columns are not showing you might have to go up to View>>Select Columns and add them in.) But if one program is doing a lot of I/O (reading and writing to disk), that'd be suspicious. Same thing with the cpu column. You'd want to look for something using a lot of cpu cycles. By the way, if you're having trouble getting Task Manager to start, use Ctrl-Alt-Del and choose Task Manager. Also in Task Manager click on the Applications tab and see if any programs are shown as "not responding". That could be something so cpu or I/O intensive that it won't even report to Task Manager. Are you positive you have enough memory ? In Task Manager, for Physical memory, what do you have for Total/Cached/Available/Free ? Next I'd suspect Startup items as aputternut suggested. This can be a little tricky to track down, but not impossible. You can download the free "Starter" program by Codestuff and click on the Startup tab, which will show you the major things set to startup at boot time. http://codestuff.obninsk.ru/products_starter.html But it's not exhaustive. If you really want the full picture, which can be a bit daunting, you can download the free RunScanner program and run it in Expert Mode. To scan, use the 3rd tab. After it completes, the 2nd tab has an "Autostart" sub-tab, showing everything that's set to auto start. But it's so detailed and comprehensive it can be hard to interpret. It's really kind of an expert level program. Nevertheless, sometimes some weird malware or virus type thing can show up there. Codestuff's Starter is much easier to use. As an aside, research has shown that defraging isn't really as much of an issue as people have thought. Nevertheless I still do it. But it's not going to cause the kind of startup problems you're having. Let us know what you find out.
