I am just wondering....will there be any harm in downloading ActiveX so I can play the games that are available through Pogo, etc? the warning about downloading scares me and I don't want to do anything to screw up the computer. As you can tell, I'm not too smart about the computer but I do love to play games. I get the notice to download ActiveX a LOT from Pogo. Thanks a lot for your help. I do appreciate it. BT

You obviously have the computer set to ask before installing activeX controls. That is good, it places you in charge and restricts any third party activeX controls from being loaded without your knowledge.

In cases like you mention then I always agree to the control being installed. After all I want the best enjoyment I can get from my computer.

Owbist is right...always have them ask you .... I believe the settings are in Tools -> Internet oOptions on your browser bar.

If you want to see a nice flash site visit Orsinal. It is one of the Sites to Delight from a recommendation from Geek Girl.

The games are fun. Every square is a different game. Some games don't have "start here" on their large game square. In those cases...just click on the big square and your short little well designed flash game will begin.

It is amazing what our computers can do and what we can learn to do with them.

You would need to install the active x program for each of those, or any such site. These are small programs specific to the particular web site. Popcap has some very good games if you like those kind of things and they do not throw you out after an hour of usage. My wife is a frequent visitor to Popcap You might find you would enjoy RealArcade, they do throw you out after an hour on each game but it seems there are a huge number of them to choose amongst so you can stay for many hours.

It's the whole problem with Using internet explore, it gives the browser complete control. Some sites & scanners require it to run programs. Not all Active X is bad, The stuff you see is probably nothing to worry about on your computer.

I have Vista Home premium edition (64) bit. I use, Malwarebytes, superspyware, spyware blaster and Avast. The game is Jewel Quest from IWin game site. The game is jerky in it's movements and because they recommend the plug in and I can't download it,I am assuming that maybe the problem. I have uninstalled jewel quest and re-installed once, didn't help.

have you tried using firefox or a different browser? It is always best to have at least one other browser on a pc in case IE fails so you can still access online, that would be my first thing to try. Then you can rule out if it is a problem with IE
