Picking Finishes when Bathroom has Exposed Brick

My Baltimore Row-home is going to have an exposed Brick wall in every bathroom. I would like to hear some input on what finishes and shapes I can use when there is brick. I would like to keep it somewhat traditional, but still appeal to 25+ crowd.

Oh, I bet that looks wonderful!! Traditional is such an easy look to accomplish. Can you provide more details. Which finishes in specific, floors? Fixtures? Lighting? Shower/bath? If you can provide pictures that would be helpful too.

The bathroom is not even framed yet, it just has the re-pointed brick exterior wall. I want it to be pretty neutral, and budget friendly. It is also a small space.

what about white subway tile or travertine?

My parents house is like that, but there’s a wall with a wide doorway into the area with the vanity, so it’s open but also easy to close off by just putting a curtain rail up. It’s also oriented to the room such that if you only use enough light at the vanity to wash your hands for a midnight potty run, it really isn’t enough to bother someone in the bed if you place the bed sensibly. Getting ready in the morning would be trickier if you needed to do makeup and so on so needed proper lighting, so that’s where a screen or a curtain would come in.

I can understand not wanting all ORB, and I think the knob and the light fixture work together well. My problem is the ORB with the chrome...one is so rustic and antique, and the other is so modern and contemporary. Might I suggest going with another finish for the other hardware that isn't so high contrast with the ORB...maybe a brushed or satin nickel instead or even a brushed chrome...

I don't think you have to worry as much about chrome matching from one maker to another, as you would with other finishes. I've got a chrome bathroom with Kohler tub filler and shower head, Moen shower control valve thing (what IS that called?), Delta lav faucet and towel bars, sconces from one light manufacturer, a ceiling fixture from another, a tub drain assembly that the plumbers chose, and a shower curtain rod whose origin I couldn't tell you either. I just went in and scrutinized, in the best light I could, and can't see any differences in the chrome finishes whatsoever, spaced as they are through a smallish bathroom.

Yes, itÃ¢ÂÂs looking like I will have to go that route and start over. I have found several fairly reliable brands in faucets I like but not so much in the all-in tub wall mounts w/hand spray in the style I seek. Boy it does get discouraging learning that much of what was good is a bit dicey now in the plumbing fixture department. At least by picking separate components I will not be replacing a whole unit if something breaks. From what IÃ¢ÂÂm reading most of this stuff is now made in China (even well-known brands) and to me grossly overpriced for the quality it is. IÃ¢ÂÂll pay mid-high for something good but not something thatÃ¢ÂÂs a pretty bunch of crap. I miss the old days when there were certain brands you could turn to and know what you were getting. Now itÃ¢ÂÂs a maze.

I love white subway tile, it will mimic the brick. Add some chrome fixtures and maybe a black noir travertine or marble floor and I think it would look stunning.

oooh, endless possibilities. I think the brick will make anything you pick look great (rather than the other way around). You could go simple white subway, traditional, or you could go really earthy and slate, or you could go sleek and contemporary.

I would think about texture when you pick out stuff, as brick is so rich in texture, to either complement or contrast.
