Flash Player

I,m trying to download Flash player, I changed the ActiveX settings even though Microsoft threated me with my life, but put them back after I still could not download. I have Windows xp-sp2 IE7 also Ad-aware-sp, CCleaner & Spy Blaster

and Adobe 7.0, plus Norton any advice will be welcomed.

Temporarily disable Norton. This might work.

I had a similar problem which was solved when - on consultant's advice - i switched from ie6/ie7 to firefox2.

I've had minor problems with the last/current version of Flash Player locking up the browsers and stopping internet for a few moments when on certain webpages. I assume it will be fixed soon as I've notice several others having seemingly identical issues. Its supposed to be more safe than previous versions.. they update it mostly for protecting us from newer threats. If you think you need it .. install it. If you don't miss it.. don't install it. That used to happen to me and I read somewhere it is a false update and FF had something to do with it. I still get it when I watch a u tube. It tells me I need flash player to watch it and in spite of the warning it still plays.

Yes, PK, I made sure when I got new computer that tech installed the paid version of Adobe, and am glad I did. I got a surprise visit from him one day shortly after I wrote the forum, and he straightened things out for me. I was unable to actually see what he did, cuz the phone rang, and while I was answering, he finished up, waved and left. Not that I am crying about it, just wish I had known what I might have done, and what to do to repair it. Just hoping now, that I don't update ANYTHING and goof up the machine again. So far, so good, back to business of making pdf's, and making progress in the batch that was left waiting for me. Thanks for your interest, appreciate so much all inquiries.

Nothing substantial. 64-bit software runs faster ... but the difference is measured in micro- and nanoseconds so isn't of much consequence except in VERY high-performance environments. The typical user browsing email or web sites takes MUCH more time clicking on links and reading text and waiting for data to come in over the network connection than the difference a 64-bit browser can garner. 32-bit software can't make use of more than 4GB of RAM (which includes 32-bit Windows OS) no matter how much is installed in the computer. 64-bit OS and software can utilize MUCH more system RAM ... but if a given computer has only 4 GB then that's all it has anyway. However, many 64-bit systems nowadays may have (should have to get any benefit from a 64-bit OS) 8 GB of RAM or more.

IE7 is not adobe friendly to begin with. Even if you get the flash player in, IE 7 might not let you on the site you want to play on.

Tools->Manage Add Ons make sure the program is enabled.

Also make sure you save your downloads and UNBLOCK them by right-clicking the download's icon (first save the download then choose the open folder option) and UNBlOCK through the properties option (the last one) before you install.

Gillian..I had that problem with the new IE7....you have to un install the old Flash player and re install it ...thats all it took for mine...

Well really fixed my computer now have no "flash player" installed or "real player" now if I could just get rid of "adobe 7.0.7" I could start from the beginning I tried to uninstall "adobe" but got the message about a patch after that I was lost. Wondering if I should call a tech in to fix the mess I have made hate to do that I,ll never learn anything.

Why do you want to get rid of Adobe? You won't be able to read PDF without it.

Lemme get this straight. Do you want the Flash Player?

Remember there's all kinds of new filters with IE7. You have to allow the download through your Internet Security and Manage Addons ...both accessible through Internet Options found on your IE menu under Tools.

Foxit Reader is a whole lot smaller than Adobe Reader. And it works just fine !

mikie you've peaked my interest...again. You'revery interesting.

Ahem..well back to the post. I tried the link. I got nothing but that "the website could not be reached"... etc.

It could be me, I am up the proverbial creek.

You can use this for all applications that call for the Acrobat reader? Really?...When I reinstall XP I want to make sure I am as streamlined as I can be.

Well I found an older version of "flash player" downloaded it then upgraded to version 9 and everything is working fine, also didn,t get any threats from Microsoft all went smoothly. Thank you for all the help I,m one happy camper now.

Gillian, try Orisinal. Its a cute flash site.

Winter Bells is just darling, its the first square. Just click on it and click on the big square that comes up, and again. Have the snow bunny jump the bells.

If you click on the flower, you can "send flowers" which is to "pick and arrange" flowers on an email postcard. I don't think the send link works. I sent myself one and never got it. But it is a very nice example of flash.

Gillian....I am having the same problem. Can't download Flash player 7... I still have IE6 -- I don't want IE7 yet until they get the kinks out of it. I perfectly satisfied with IE6 right now. Where did you find the older version of Flash player...??? Thanks for any information...

Cricketm- I typed in Yahoo search something on the line of "old flash player version" found a page with version 2.2 and up. Wish I had kept the webpage you are not the first to ask me.
