I forget the exact measurements of mine, but I decided against using the smaller tile, because to my eye, they looked too small. Don't know where you are located, but I found the larger ones at Nemo Tile Co. in New York City. They have them in stock, in white and a few other colors, and you can pick them right up. I will say, however, that the smaller ones might be more historically accurate. In this particular bathroom, we were trying to stay true to the original bath, which did have hex tile, in the smaller size, but they were too broken up and too many pieces were missing for us to salvage. We also had to open up the whole floor anyway, so we had to replace. In looking for replacement tile, I just thought the larger ones looked better. Worthy, whose bathroom is that? Is it yours? Worthy is right, wood would be out of place in that bath. disney, I have PVC beadboard in my guest bath and we decided to use the wood moldings. They look great together. You can't tell the PVC is PVC unless you touch it.

I've seen some really cool great looking sheet glass backsplashes on this forum. You could think about that instead of tile, since you are going contemporary/modern, hate seams and will have lots of brick mortar lines competing with tile grout lines... the clean unbroken look of sheet glass might be nice. Can't comment on Corian in a kitchen, but we've had it on our main bath vanity counter for about 12 years. It is a light color and we've had no problems with it in the bath. I know someone will comment here who does have it in the kitchen. Your kitchen plans sound very interesting with the brick wall and the shelf just above countertop height. I just bought glass tiles from my local tile shop . . . the manufacturer is Terra Verre and judging from their website, they have a number of dealers in the LA area. Here's the website for the tile company's dealers: http://www.terraverre.com/content.php?id=99 Mine are a color called glacier which is a very warm, light gray/taupe color which might work for you. The pictures are of a 1x2, but I ordered them in a 3x6. And they definitely come in a frosted color as well. Best of all, they are extremely reasonably priced . . . even better than most of the online retailers. Good luck!
