Since my new computer had a preloaded O.S (VISTA),

I have spent long,long hours trying to troubleshoot and /or locate basic functions. I have several "How do I ??" questions, but will take them one at a time.

Because of low vision, I have to enlarge text and there has to be 5-6 ways to accomplish this.I have done all of the usual fixes with changes in the resolution, control Panel displays and settings, page font changes, magnifier.

and a 22 inch monitor.Even if I view pages in only 75% of normal size, I still cannot have a readable text ( it is worse actually, with only 75% normal size.).

What happens is text over text over text..It is unreadable. ... On MOST of the pages that open, the text appears layering over layering .

Could any of you steer me in the right direction??

Try going to a site that you want and hopefully you have a wheeled mouse. Press the Control key and rotate the wheel on the mouse. One direction should make the printing smaller and rotating in the other direction should make it bigger. Let us know

it sounds like you need to set your dpi to a higher setting, I am not familiar with where everything is on vista, on xp you get to it by right clicking on the desktop choose properties and then your display where you set the resolution there you click on the advanced button and can change the dpi settings to higher or a custom level.

Some things to try If you right-click an image, is there an option to "Show full quality" or something similar? If so, you're running an accelerator program. These speed up display of webpages at the expense of image quality. These programs are added by your ISP. To check for an incompatible add-on, disable all add-ons from IE> Tools> Manage add-ons. Re-enable them one at a time until the problem returns. In Firefox click help select "Restart with Add ons disabled" See if that helps. Your happiness is yours to make and not theirs (your children or SS or your H's XW) to give. Once you lead your life and make your decisions based on what you think are RIGHT, and let the results be with GOD, then you don't have to find happiness for HAPPINESS WILL FIND YOU. 1. Children are the master at using GUILT to get what they want. So ignore the comments from your SD about the money should be spent on her college. Your H should let her know that college education is a priviledge and a choice, not a birth right. You both will HELP her when you can for you also have other children to take care as well. ( I stress the word HELP and not the word PAY FOR). Don't be appalled by her comments but be compassionate. 2. Your SK of age 17 & 19 can decide to go whether their mom approves or not. Your H (not you) should talk to them first and let them decide. If yes then they can talk to their mom about it. If they cann't or don't want to go, then so be it. Life moves on. 3. You cannot control, nor you can change the attitude of your H's xw. So don't let her dump her garbage onto your yard. Tell your husband, not to get to any discussions w her, unless they are related to the children, but then keep in short. 4. The nature of blended family is very complex and complicated for so many factors are outside of your control. Don't expect so much about making a unified family, then you are setting yourself up for disappointment. Do what you believe in your heart is RIGHT, then let GOd takes care of the results, be it YES or NO. Expect nothing then a small result still is a success.

You spent a lot of time on my behalf and I appreciate that a lot.!
Just knowing that there are so many other people who want changes to VISTA , makes me feel genuinely optimistic that those links will address the issues I have.
I may not be able to be as prompt as I
normally would be, in letting you know my results, as my precious and loveable dog, Dakota, has been having seizures, about 1 every half-hour . He is sedated this evening and also exhausted .
Just reading the introductions and summaries of each link you sent to me, generates renewed energy and hopefulness. I will let you know of all successful changes .
Oh, first things first . Is there any way to keep the windows /screens I am viewing in the center of my screen? In XP there was a drop-down command under the link-bar ( ??Task bar?)"Windows". It gave choices of " Remember size and position" that I used a lot. Other choices in that same ink, included "Tile, Cascade etc.. Just to type this text now ( over 1 hour ), has required so many manual re-positioning actions, as the left of my screen is positioned too far left for me to see.For EACH new line
of text I write, I have to manually bring the screen to the center. It makes concentration and focusing difficult.
