I presume you had a window open up with a heading that said something like: HP Deskjet D1500 Series?

If so, there is a menu bar at the top of the window and one of the listings is "Printer." If you click on that, you will likely see a line with a checkmark in front of it that says: "Use printer offline." If you uncheck that line, the printer should go back online and start printing.

I have had several HP printers that would occasionally and inexplicably decide to go offline. You are probably doing nothing to cause this, but this is how you can get it going. I don't know of a permanent fix as I tried many things including uninstalling and reinstalling the software...to no avail.

If you have closed the window and don't know how to open another one up, just right-click on the printer icon in the task bar on the bottom of the screen, or try printing another document.

Try that and report back, please.

a menu selection. Only general and options. Under options,
it says-print all linked documents, print table of links.
Neither of the boxes are checked. I do not see printer offline. Thank you.

Ok...try this. Go to Start > Control Panel and double-click on "Printers"; then double-click on the name of the printer you want to use (there may be more than one printer listed). Does that bring up the window I described?

Excuse an oldie stepping in here, may be way off base, but I have to turn my printer ON, BEFORE I want to do anything, or it isn't acknowledged by the computer, might be worth a shot?

hi Kudzu,I watch my grandkids and get on here late. My husband unplugged and plugged it in, and guess what!!
It printed--thank you so much for your help. I feel I was
starting to be a nuisance. Sorry about that.

Oh,I have a laptop and at times my keyboard doesn't type
at times--I did get a spare keyboard to plug in, so it's
really not a big issue--hope you don't see me post for a while. Thank you again.
