Update on my printer problems. still not working

I finally had to unplug printer #1 (out of ink) because it just keeps shooting out the paper as fast as it can shoot them through...(don't know what the heck I did to cause that.) I unplugged both the power and the connection to the computer.

Now the other printer says it is in an "offline" mode.

I went to my control panel , clicked on printers , clicked on the icon for my printer , clicked on the popup box in the one marked "printer offline"

All I got was another popup saying "operation could not be completed"

Any other suggestion other than lighting a match???

Go ahead and light the match, LOL! I am the designated computer person in this office and if I can't fix the problem, we have to put in a work order to IS. And wait. And wait. It can be so frustrating. Could you try reinstalling the printer driver on the working printer?

should I remove everything first...I have the install disc for that one...and can put it all back in.

I used to think a balanced fertilizer right off the bat was very important back when I was a green horn but that has changed with experience. Seedlings need a fertilizer higher in phosphorus for good root development IMO. Once they have a proper root system to support the plant then you can give them a balanced fertilizer. People who grow to sell are not selling healthy plants. They have lush top growth but the root system alone can't support the plant unless they are pumped up with fertilizer and watered often. I prefer focusing on the root system so that the plants can develop faster on their own and once planted in the ground they don't need constant fertilizer or watering. I also inoculate with endo and ecto mycorrhizae so they make better use of fertilizer and don't need as much added.

Making a copy does not require the computer so that is not much help really. Have you tried disconnecting the USB from the printer while it is on? There should be a 2 tone sound as this is done, plugging it back in the 2 tone sound is reversed. If there is no sound (assuming the speakers on of course) then either the cable is damaged or the printer might be shot. The link below leads to a 90 second video on how to print the test page without using the computer, have you tried that? This will tell you if the printer is actually working indicating that perhaps the cord is damaged. Here is a link that might be useful: Print self test page

I have several suggestions you can try: First, it is possible that there is a small piece of paper that is jamming the rollers, even though you don't see anything, so is it possible to open the case and try to reach the rollers and rotate them by hand? Second, right-click on the "My Computer" icon, then Properties, then Device Manager, and see if there are any red or amber warning flags for Imaging Devices. Third, try resetting the printer-computer connection by shutting off the printer and disconnecting the USB cable from the printer to the computer, rebooting the computer, and then turning the printer back on and plugging the USB cable in. (Also check to see if there are any old printing jobs that are still in the cue by looking at the printer window that you can open up from the control panel, and also check again to make sure it's still online.) Once you do that, try printing again. Fourth, go into the printer software and see if you can run the diagnostics program. If you don't have this, you can also download a piece of troubleshooting software directly from the HP web site. Fifth, have you tried running a test page usng the printer software? This should tell you if the printer is functioning. Then report back on whether any of these worked...

It should just over-write the old file. You might want to try posting on the computer column to get more professional advice.

The other thing you may need to do is go to the printer website and see if they may have some new drivers to install.
I would actually unistall before reinstalling..could have just picked up a glitch somewhere..

Okay Terri....I went to the HP website. Had them check to see what if any driver I might need to download.

Did that.

It still doesn't work.

Now I'm going back to check their "troubleshoot"

Go to your Control Panel - double click on the Printers & Faxes icon.

Right Click the selected printer - Select USE PRINTER ONLINE. That should clear it up.

This is where you can also purge your unprinted documents that are causing you grief. Just double click on that printers icon - select PRINTER and in the drop down menu from that select "Cancel documents"

No Iowagirl...that doesn't work...I get an "error in processing"...it won't change it. grrrrrrr

I've tried that hundreds of times.

But I sure appreciate everyone trying to help me.

I emailed HP...I probably won't hear from them for a couple days and then it will probably be something stupid and I'll be all embarassed.
