Update on my printer problems. still not working

I finally had to unplug printer #1 (out of ink) because it just keeps shooting out the paper as fast as it can shoot them through...(don't know what the heck I did to cause that.) I unplugged both the power and the connection to the computer.

Now the other printer says it is in an "offline" mode.

I went to my control panel , clicked on printers , clicked on the icon for my printer , clicked on the popup box in the one marked "printer offline"

All I got was another popup saying "operation could not be completed"

Any other suggestion other than lighting a match???

Go ahead and light the match, LOL! I am the designated computer person in this office and if I can't fix the problem, we have to put in a work order to IS. And wait. And wait. It can be so frustrating. Could you try reinstalling the printer driver on the working printer?

"dirt"....help me....LOL..Please...

should I remove everything first...I have the install disc for that one...and can put it all back in.

Can my surge protector still protect my computer? Problem

First thing I might have done was feel the surge protector to see how warm it might be. Perhaps for some reason it overheated and tripped the internal breaker. My APC protector has 2 banks of plugs with one bank offering better protection than the other. Is yours a surge protector or a power bar with built in protection? Might still be under warranty?

(The printer originally went through a parallel port; had to get a "conversion" plug to connect to USB on this computer.) J- Okay, that Avantium is cool! I can see why you want to get one for your new kitchen :) What about a refrigerator drawer, or even two? You could put it/them under the dish storage (one possibility) where they would be really close to the sink and the stove. This would give you a place to put the smaller items, while leaving plenty of space for big items, water, pop, etc. in the big fridge. I've thought about this myself a few times, with some of my layouts, but I've been gravitating to a smaller kitchen lately (shocking, I know LOL) but fridge drawers are a great way to keep a few items handy, without the big fridge right in the work area. If you had veggies, butter or margerine, some cheese, cream or milk, etc. that would be a lot of the items (at least a lot of mine) that I run back and forth grabbing, while I'm also trying to stir a sauce or wash something at the sink. Your landing space by the fridge (first plan) seems fine, for the occasional item and usually I get the big ingredients from the pantry and fridge before I start a meal. What do you think? As for you back, totally been there...after lifting too much hay for horses a few years back. Another good reason to think about dish washer drawers, too :) I think the stove on the back wall could make an incredible focal point. What are you thinking about for stove/cooktop? What style are you leaning towards? I know the plan is the first step, but what are you ideas for the room? Love to know details on your design...the plan is so important for function, but the design...that's the fun part!

It should just over-write the old file. You might want to try posting on the computer column to get more professional advice.

The other thing you may need to do is go to the printer website and see if they may have some new drivers to install.
I would actually unistall before reinstalling..could have just picked up a glitch somewhere..

Okay Terri....I went to the HP website. Had them check to see what if any driver I might need to download.

Did that.

It still doesn't work.

Now I'm going back to check their "troubleshoot"

Go to your Control Panel - double click on the Printers & Faxes icon.

Right Click the selected printer - Select USE PRINTER ONLINE. That should clear it up.

This is where you can also purge your unprinted documents that are causing you grief. Just double click on that printers icon - select PRINTER and in the drop down menu from that select "Cancel documents"

No Iowagirl...that doesn't work...I get an "error in processing"...it won't change it. grrrrrrr

I've tried that hundreds of times.

But I sure appreciate everyone trying to help me.

I emailed HP...I probably won't hear from them for a couple days and then it will probably be something stupid and I'll be all embarassed.
