Bath tub Gripes
Comments (17)The last time I took a bath, I think I filled the tub with about 6 inches of water. BIG mistake! When this whale-size fanny sat down, it caused a tidal wave of the Perfect Storm proportions! Our fiberglass tub was so uncomfortable, I think I got more kinks in my neck from the bath. When it was time to get out, I had the presence of mind to let out the water ... what little water was left in the tub! I don't remember how I got out. I tend to block out traumatic experiences. I don't think I could even get into a claw foot tub now! I have trouble lifting my Bozo The Clown-size feet into a small tub. My favorite thing is to sit on my shower bench, put my shower head with the long hose on fire hose setting and just massage my shoulders, arms, legs and feet with it. I have been known to fall asleep in the shower as a result of it. But then ... I fall asleep at my computer at work so that doesn't mean much! Thanks for the hilarious story, toomuch. Luckily Bob is asleep and not giving me strange looks for laughing out loud....See MoreAir/bubble tub in tub/shower combo?
Comments (1)We went with an Americh Turo tub. It was the only one that was 18 inches high, instead of the 20-22 typical of tubs that have the whirlpool features. This tub can also be ordered with a whirlpool, but I didn't look into that since we wanted a plain tub. So far, it's working out well as a tub and shower combo. However, it does feel deep if it were filled to capacity - I may worry if I had small children (but, I don't have kids, so I'm not sure at what age I would feel comfortable)....See MoreTub/shower combo or tub and shower stall
Comments (15)I know I probably went overboard, but I have been searching Houzz for shower/tub combos for myself if I decide to go in that direction. Most of these pictures have Master Bath titles - they tend to be small houses or apartments in large cities where space is an issue. They all have a generous sized tub. A few have extra shower bling and even a separate tub filler. All of them have material choices and the level of tile work that you see in a master bathroom. I'm sure that if I searched Houzz I could find just as many, or even more, remodels of small master baths where they have just built a walk in shower. I think the decision to do a shower/tub may be a personal choice because they want a soaking tub - since they are titled Master I'm assuming the bath is not the only bath in the house and they could easily just go with a shower. Comments (27)Thanks, dabunch. I'm trying to think through all of this. Our doorways are all going to be wide enough for a wheelchair to come through straight on. If we add a shallow ramp, a wheelchair will be able to get from the front porch or garage into the house, then all around the LR/DR/kitchen, into the MBR and the master bathroom. A wheelchair will not be able to go into the master closet, but I don't forsee either of us living alone if we are in a wheelchair. I was at the cabinetmaker's shop yesterday at the same time a woman in a wheelchair was there planning her kitchen. So many things I would never have thought of...like the microwave not only lowered, but also not over a cabinet. Well, as Bette Davis so famously said, "getting old isn't for sissies." We're not old yet, but we are hoping to be. So we are planning for it....See More- 10 years ago
