Yes, upon reflection, an underccounter oven would not be good for my back. I was thinking that maybe I would only use the second oven for parties and holidays, but sometimes we have friends over every weekend. Good point about the cost of separate ovens. I do like the look of double ovens, too. Especially the Bosch 800 series and the Kenmore Pro, but it is very hard to find anything on them...few mixed reviews online. I will ask on this forum. And do some research on Electrolux as well, since they seem to be popular here. I saw the Wolf cooktop at Great Indoors. My mother has a Wolf range, but she hates to cook. Lol. Yes, you're right, I couldn't find a published price on the GE Monogram counter-depth anywhere. I have accepted that I can't vent with an OTR MW. I will have to spring for an undercabinet hood. Bleah. $1400. Ugh. Loss of cabinet space. Boo. I am thinking that, since I was planning for stacked 42" + !2" or 36" + 18", I will have to mount the MW under a cabinet...h'mmm...maybe I will have to do a mullion door on a 36" or 42", since the 12" or 18" are supposed to be mullion? Thought briefly about putting MW in island, but kids are 6 and 10 and tall, too. LOVE the Kitchens forum. It looks.like close to the same amount of space that we have in our KA Superba, which we bought 9 years ago and has never given us a problem. I will look at KA fridges, thank you! I need the MW drawer money for the undercabinet hood. Boo. But the fridge isn't in my appliance budget, anyway. Lol.

I bought a house with induction and didn't know it (while we were writing up the offer the homeowner mentioned it). Of course, I bought the place knowing the kitchen needed to be gutted so it didn't matter one way or another. But anyway, it won't sell your house to have, and nobody will know it's weird unless you tell them. If you don't tell them, don't leave your cookware (nobody really wants used cookware, no matter how nice) but leave the owner's manual somewhere prominent! Unless they give you a hard time with the inspection, and then hide the manual somewhere in the house and laugh about it. :)

I'm going to be the voice of dissent - I would NOT want double ovens. I do a lot of cooking that starts on the the stovetop and then finishes baking in the oven, using a cast iron dutch oven. I couldn't do this if the cooktop was across the room for the oven. Also, I only know two people in real life with a double wall oven, my grandmother and my aunt. Both only use them both if they are having a holiday meal with more than 10 people. Otherwise, they seem to be a huge waste of space. I'm short and I can't reach the top one very well, and I hate the pull down door on top - its right at my face, and I'm always burning my arm on it when I try to put something in or take something out. I have to get someone else to that job when I'm cooking with the family. I love my range, however. If I had lots of extra money, I'd go with something like a Lacanche, with two ovens. But I'd never ever want wall ovens. It just doesn't suit my cooking style. I say get what you want. I never worry about resale, except when I'm trying to justify having to spend a ton on something...oh well, if I have to put in new HVAC, at least it will up the value of the home. Well, if I have to redo the entire roof, at least it will up the resale value.

Ohmygosh. I thought this would be about pros and cons of cleaning the range top, not bending. Surely not all the people worrying about lifting pans out of an undercounter oven are in their 80s or seriously debilitated from some joint problem? Debility may well be on its way, though. This is absolutely a kitchen design issue. Try this picture: My neighbor has had mild arthritis for a while, pain almost always controlled with aspirin and Tylenol, but it's been a reason for becoming more and more sedentary. She dislikes walking upstairs these days because it wears her out; "fortunately," their bedroom's on the main floor and she seldom has to. I know she never exercises, but I was surprised the other week to see her have difficulty getting out of her armchair. Took two tries, successful after she first boosted herself to the edge. Her progressively more crippled lifestyle isn't from the arthritis, it's from deconditioning, facilitated by her energetic husband who does all the trotting around for them. Of course, she has lots of back pain, and I strongly doubt she can bend much, though wouldn't know. She's somewhere in her early 60s and has NO significant health problems. For those to whom this applies, I strongly recommend getting a wall oven only for positive reasons--NOT in an unintentional but ongoing plan to remove as much healthy exercise from your day as possible. Bending is good. Being able to lift from below safely is good. "Worried about...?" Back strengthening and stretching exercises worked wonders for me after I burst a disk lifting; no more back pain, no more back injuries from weak muscles for close to 20 years. BTW, I'm in my mid 50s and put my undercounter oven to the side of the cooktop in my new kitchen so I don't stand in front of it. It's right there where I work and nice and easy for basting and viewing. I'm very pleased with it and would do it again for sure, although I would like a wall oven too if I had room for it. When the day comes I have problems, which it will--the signs are in my increasingly bad spine posture, I'll have the incentive to do those exercises in front of the TV again for a while.
