I went with the Profile double-oven gas: here are my reasons. I like the smaller-size top oven for daily use, and the lower oven will only be used on occasion, so I'm ok with its location. (There's no room for a wall oven in my tiny kitchen -- and I have no plans to tear out cabinets and rearrange.) I'm a good cook, and I honed my skills on low-end domestic ranges because that's what was available: I don't need a commercial range to cook what I like, and I'm too busy with other aspects of my life to change my cooking style now. I also prefer not to deal with "pro" level BTUS and the ventilation complications they might add. I also am not willing to give up self-cleaning ovens -- which puts many pro-style ranges out of contention. I liked the slide-in setup and the angled control-knob location on the Profile, so that, and the price advantage, led me to choose it over the Cafe. Re: price, I bought mine from a local dealer, and I got the price down a bit by asking them to meet the ajmadison.com price. They didn't quite get there, but I was willing to pay a little extra for local sales/delivery/service reliability. Everyone's situation is a little different, but I found that the Profile slide-in fits best with my kitchen and the way I use it.

Model PGB995SETSS Is there anyone out there that can give me input on this puppy for everyday cooking for my son and sometimes my husband? I have searched and there is not too much info.on appliances forum for these double free standings w/small oven on tops. Some peeps in the kitchen forums liked them, as like me, they don't like to bend over all the time and like a small oven to use everyday. The subject of cooktops vs. free standing ranges came up. I'm remodeling a 12'6" x 15'9" kitchen with three doors and a 49" (38 1/2" of it actual glass, from 1939)and of course a sink w/ window over it. Wall oven and cooktop seem like they'd limit counterspace/storage. Will add island but if anything went there, I'd want it to be prep sink. Some peeps suggested induction cooktops, but I think I like to see the fire and am leery of buying new pans etc. Help?

villagebetsy, I have the Wolf 30" natural gas cooktop and like it very much indeed. I've only had it less than 6 weeks but like it very much so far - its a good looking unit and I do love its performance, both in the high and in the low. Others here (gibby2000 and a couple others) have had the Wolf for a while and continue to be happy with theirs so I felt confident of its reliability. It has a 15KBTU high burner and a 12.5Kbtu high for the second and 2 smaller 9kbtu burners. They are certainly more than plenty powerful for me. I love the stacked burner configuration and the low simmer on them all - the big burners have a simmer of 700btu I believe and the small ones have a very low 300btu setting. My largest pan is a 10" diameter, and I've used a couple of these 10inchers simultaneously without a problem. I also had upto 3 pans on the cooktop simultaneously very comfortably. I like the substantial, wide, stable grates on the cooktop, LOVE the lighted dials, I do like the little details about it like the slightly angled control panel so that you can better see even the furthest knobs & I do like how low profile it is. I don't know anything about the GE Profile or the Monogram except that I will say that when I was investigating cooktops, the GE units published their simmer specs by providing a simmer temperature of some sort. Specs like these that don't elaborate whose temperature, of what qty it will maintain at that temperature etc. are just silly, annoy me greatly, so I never investigated those any further. However, DCS makes at least some of the Monogram stuff and I do think well of DCS, too, so if they've produced the Monogram I'm sure it is a good unit. But I like my Wolf 30" very much.

I am not sure why you are getting zero response to your question. I too am having a difficult time deciding between two brands. My request for advice wasn't answered either. So without the benefit of others sharing their experience the best way to decide is probably side by side comparison. List the pros and cons of each as you see them and perhaps one will stand out more than the other. I don't have gas but I do have a GE convection wall oven and a GE cooktop. The cooktop has had to have the elements replaced three times in the 8 years I have owned it. The convection oven has had fan issues from the get go. First the fan in the oven started sounding loud and was fixed. Now it has noise coming from an internal fan and you'd think a plane was landing in the kitchen. So, Jenn Air, with it's extra features may be worth the extra expense if it holds up better than the GE. I'd check their repair history. Good luck with your remodel and enjoy your new kitchen!
