Some of My Fall Displays

Have done a bit of fall decorating around here lately - it keeps getting disrupted though as I took some things to church for a luncheon there and also to work to decorate the staff room table. Maybe I should go shopping for more items so I don't have to pull from my home displays - good excuse anyway! LOL!

This is a tablescape from last year using my pumpkin bowls - haven't thought of a Thanksgiving Table yet

Just some fun items I have which I put on the top shelf of a baker's rack I have by the living room (lit with rope lights along back)

Time to relax with a cup of tea and a good book

Well, DD, you sure deserve to relax with that cup of tea and a good book--you've been one busy lady! Everything looks really pretty and very festive. Lots of neat pumpkins, and I always love all the candle holders and such. Thanks for sharing pics of all your decorating. Luvs

Oh my gosh, DD, everything is just beautiful. I keep staring at the photos and can't get over all the lovely vignettes you created. WOW. Fantabulous! I was hard pressed to pick a favorite but guess if I had to, your pumpkin soup bowls centerpiece is the one.
I am going to be putting some of these photos in our album for sure. No way are they getting lost in the future!!

Talk about eye candy, Girl you gave us a huge bowl of it tonight!

Pattico, I vote to keep it up and use it for seasonal displays. It sure made a great backdrop for the photos. Send updated pics.Thanks for sharing. I have some old weathered picket fencing that I use for my flower bed. I have more and I think I am going to copy your idea.LOL Pat P

Jenn, I was born a collector and packrat. I swear from time I could walk I was "collecting". As for my Painted Ponies and what started me on them....I've always loved horses dearly. Always. At one time I owned 5, and did gymkhana events and barrel racing with them as well as just riding all thru the desert and mountains here. Bet y'all didn't know I was a cowgirl once upon a time. LOL I haven't had a horse in 25 yrs but will never stop loving them. I also love artwork and envy those with talent, as I can't draw a stick figure decently. The Trail of Painted Ponies came into being around 2000, and I was totally in love with them. Each pony is done by a certain artist and has a "story" behind it. I never get tired of looking at the ponies and the beautiful art on them. They release new ponies about 3 times a year. And seems they are quite the investment too. Reg prices run $20-$30, but some ponies get retired each year. Those from the first year are now selling for $300 to $600. So I told my kids these are their inheritance. LOL. I have collected all but about 12 of the ponies, so I'm thrilled now to have so many, as I had no clue their value would go up so much. Karen, You missed your calling, you should have been an interrier designer. You decs are absolutely beautiful. I too love the little squirrels, they look so real. You seem to have the knack for knowing just what to put together. I have taken a terrible head cold today, and just feel lousy, so I hadn't been on my computer until just a little while ago, so I am behind on posts. You said you wished you had my will power about not buying Christmas decs. Believe me, it is not will power, it is already having more than I can possibly use. There was years that I couldn't pass up Christmas decorations, at ys, ts or after Christmas sales. Every year when I start getting things out, I find things that I don't even remember buyung. Durring the month of Nov. my time is usurally spent in the wreath barn (remember, we live in Christmas Tree Country) and I always try to make enough money to do all my Christmas shopping making wreaths. I started doing this yrs ago when my kids were small, and I needed the extra money really badly at Christmas.When they all grew up and moved out, making wreaths had just became such a tradition, that one year I didn't make any and it really didnt seem like Christmas. I usurally make a few hundred wreaths from the last of Oct to the 2nd week in Dec. I gues thats one reson that I never worried much about Halloween or Thanksgiving decorations. I usurally have all my ks and gk here for Thanksgiving Thursday and then right back to the barn an Fri.I really don't know hardly how I am going to do it this year, what with babysitting DGS, but on of my DGDs says she will help me with him. Guess time will tell... I also enjoy your albums; you do so much to keep this forum interesting. Janet

Karen... WOW!! I had no idea. I know Dept 56 has pricey items...but had no clue on this item.. This WAS a great deal. When I saw it at GW, DH had just gone down the same aisle, but missed it (man's shopping). I followed behind him, and spotted it right away. He was so surpised that they even had it there and of course the price. The other day we went into one of the little shops in town, where they have a large display and selection of Dept 56. DH likes to go in there before Christmas to see if there's any retired pieces. They're usually discounted. Well, ALL of Dept 56 Christmas was 50% off. When we questioned the owner..she said she was not going to carry it anymore. There is not much interest anymore from customers, as in the past. We saw the same thing this Summer, in Cape Cod...many of the stores who would have large displays...either cut back on stock or did away with it completely. We are so disappointed to know, this might be another hobby that will be a 'thing of the past'...just like Train Sets under the tree. :( Thank you Karen for doing the research on the Pumpkin Wagon...I will treasure it even more so!! lol jane

I love all of your arrangements, DD. I never really decorated for fall much until RECENTLY--guess why!! But I have been inspired by everyone's decorations and really want to go shopping. My DH thanks you.....

Prosp, use anything you want from my albums. A lot came from the gang here of course.

Mommacass, I'm sure your DH appreciates the help in lightening his wallet. LOL. I never decorated much for any Holiday except Xmas. Then I stumbled on to this place and was off and running. Now I especially love the Fall decorations. So SHOP, have FUN, and take PHOTOS. I love seeing someone else spend money, LOL. Great bunch of enablers here have sure spent plenty of mine.

DD .. your tablescape and pumpkin centerpiece are so pretty and different too! I just love the idea of sitting in that chair with a cup of tea..such a perfect spot that really puts you in the Fall mood..Love it..thanks for sharing so many ideas.

You ladies make decorating so much fun! I have usually decorated for the different occasions throughout the year but since discovering all of you, it has become so much more enjoyable! The difference is now, I think about YOU as I'm shopping and putting things out around the house and am excited to share any pics I take. Thank you SO MUCH for all your kind comments.

Luvs & Jane - I actually did sit down with a cuppa' once I was done taking the pics! DH had the idea to put a small table that we could eat at in the front windows - that was after I had moved a round patio table in front of the fireplace for that TEA PARTY we did in the spring - so this forum is giving him good ideas too!

Karen - I love looking at all the eye candy everyone else provides on this forum so am happy when I can share a bit with the others (espec for you during your late nights!) Thanks for thinking there are some good enough for the Inspiration Album - I'm honoured!

Printersdevil - nice to have you comment on this forum. That pumpkin centerpiece was really just something that "happened" and wasn't a plan. I had wanted to get all my soup bowls out of the box and as I put them on the table, the idea came to me.

Prosperity - you are welcome to post any pics of mine you like although I'm thinking they are more "fall" than Halloween.

Cass - Like Karen said, I'm happy to help your DH "lighten his wallet". Remember you can always start small as there is NO DOUBT that next year, you will see more things us decorating dishnuts will insist you should get! LOL!

Neesie - It is funny that when I'm decorating, I do like to think about having company over. I usually do try to do a couple of big dinner parties in the fall as well as the family Thanksgiving dinner.

Kareen - I am honoured to hear someone thought my displays looked "classically beautiful" - that is a lovely compliment! Thanks!

Simply Stupendous! I love,love,love the tablecloth in your "relax with a cup a tea" pic. I didn't notice it in the first pic,but when I got to the last one it jumped out at me. I love blue anyway. That is such a beautiful, soothing color of blue.
Every picture has something that grabs you, and is "finished" down to the smallest detail. But my favorite is the over abundance of soup bowls on your diningroom table. WOW! That's all I have to say about that!

Betty - Thanks! It is so funny you mention the tablecloth...it is actually a fabric shower curtain!! It didn't look right in the bathroom as it is a seafoam green/blue colour and didn't go so I tried it on the table and it was the exact colour of the wingback chairs we had there. Because it went well with the chairs, I didn't change it for my fall decor even though it really isn't a fall colour.

Jamie - Thanks! It is nice that you have joined this forum. I too love autumn colours, a favourite time to decorate!

I am enjoying looking at all your displays. I just got around to taking out my fall/halloween stuff from the attic due to no power for about a week from the beating we took from Hurricane Ike, but luckily we have power back and I can start putting up my things. Fall/Halloween is one my favorite times to decorate the house.

I am waiting till next week to drag out my fall things. I am doing an anniv party for friends this weekend, and I have to concentrate on that!

Judith - Thank you! You have every reason to be "lagging behind" in your fall decor with your computer problems, kitchen reno and health issues. Take your time and just do as much as you enjoy - when it gets to be "work", that is too much. Course, would love to see any pics you take!

Letmag - Glad you enjoyed looking at my pics. I have been wondering if anyone on here had been affected by Hurricane Ike and I'm sorry to hear you had power problems. I know you must be thankful to still have a house to decorate with the destruction some people have endured. Hope you will post some of your fall decor pics!

Mo - Thanks for your comments. It is nice to have you posting here. I hope to start working on ideas for my Thanksgiving tablescape soon (Here in Canada, it will be here before I know it - Oct. 13 this year).

Everything looks beautiful. Love all the vignettes. Need to get mine done hopefully this weekend. It has been 88 here all week and doesn't feel like fall.

Prosperity, I really enjoyed that first article about Thanksgiving. Is it okay if I suggest that you add lots more pictures? The articles are great, but I'm one of those visual people. LOL We are so glad that you found us, it is so neat to know we have a friend in Belgium. ;o)

dd50 - (nice to have you posting - another DD!) Thanks for your compliments. It is very cool and rainy here now so I have no problem thinking "Fall". Hope you will post some of your displays when you get them done.

Prosp, thanks for posting that link to your Thanksgiving site. There is a lot of interesting info there - liked reading about Canadian Thanksgiving and learned things too. I can't find where there are any pics (mine or otherwise) on the site though. Am I missing something?

Hi girls,

You are missing... nothing. At this moment, I work on Halloween site and then, I'll be posting on Thanksgiving. This site has been made last year within two days and I did not know about the forum.

The Halloween site is well known so, it receives a lot of visitors and I can work less on it and now instead of mid of October. Since three days, I'm trying to figure out how I could add 5 monsters articles on the site (it's brand new for Halloween site). Have to find a name for the link to the five articles ("horror shop" or something else); once the "monsters" problem fixed, I'll add the wonderful pictures I found here (already done offline but not uploaded on the server).

So I will be able to start working and adding pics on Thanksgiving within two weeks.

Will be browsing last year posts on the forum also to have a lot of pictures to add on Thanksgiving as it seems that professionals whom I buy my pics seem to avoid Thanksgiving material :-(

Post as many Halloween and Thanksgiving pictures as you want (even food), I'll add them on both sites if you agree!!!!

Luvs, thank for the comment about the first article. It's not mine but I wrote something about Thanksgiving that I posted on Squidoo and made a Thanksgiving Recipes video show there. Will pick up the article and add to the site too.

Prosp, I DO "LIKE" it!! Although I don't think my pics are anything special, it FEELS really special to have some of my pics on that Thanksgiving site. I enjoyed going back and reading more about the traditions and decorations too. Thanks so much Prosp! You have a lot more computer knowledge than me - I don't know how you can be working on so many sites - hope you figured out how to put your monster articles on the Halloween site.

Love it all, but here are my favs!
Coffee table, top of bakers rack and the mantel display. Love the dark wood with the fall colors!

Also, your last years tablescape was gorgeous!!!

Yes DD, I just created a new section... "Scary Halloween Stories" and changed the background color to black. Added some monster pictures and it seems to have some success. Just hope that it will continue as it is, lol.

Now I have to find a new header as I don't like the one on the site.
