New GE Wall Ovens Fit Two Ovens in Space of One

Has anyone heard about the new GE Profile Wall Ovens which fit two 30" ovens in the space of one? It sounds amazing, and would solve a lot of peoples' space constraints. According to the press on it, you'll be able to cook a 22 lb. turkey in the 2.8 cu. ft. oven at the same time as you cook two casseroles in the other 2.2. cu. ft. oven. Yet it only takes up wall space of one oven. I think it's going to be about $2500, and is due out in October. Although I am not sure what the effect of the sale of GE's appliance division will have on this model.

WOW, that looks wonderful!
now, would I pick that over a single wall oven and an advantium??
I've just started relooking at appliances and am already overwhelmed.

I saw a free standing range that does the same thing. (I think it was the Profile.) It has a shallow upper oven just below the cooktop and the larger oven below. Think of the old appliance drawer/warmer space being moved to above the oven and turned into a full oven and you get the idea. You could easily bake a tray of cookies or casseroles in it.

Several companies are now coming out with these. I have the Maytag Gemini and love it. The top unit is small, works as an oven and also has a "toast" control to work as a toaster oven. The bottom unit is larger and has room for big items (like a turkey). We use the top unit daily for things like pizzas, fish sticks, hot dishes, etc. The top unit pre-heats in no time. We really notice this when we are using both ovens. The lower unit takes at least twice as long to pre-heat, which can only be expected since it's bigger. Makes me feel good knowing that we're saving energy by doing most of our oven cooking in the smaller oven.

Should I do one double wall oven or two single wall ovens?

I grew up in a kitchen with two totally different wall ovens. One had a great broiler and rotisserie, and opened to the side. The other was fantastic for baking, especially things that needed a consistent and gentle environment. It was also good for gigantabirds. Both could handle most ordinary tasks. For instance, cookie baking marathons, or multiple chickens. Both were at optimal height. The side opening one could take advantage of what would have otherwise been a dump area by a doorway. The drop down door was by a wall where the other couldn't have fit. The design of my non-attached ovens (Gaggenau combi-steam and single) are so heavily weighted to stacking that they would have looked dumb if they hadn't been. Giving up separate optimal height ovens for that is one of the decisions I question constantly. It solved some other problems, but I still rue it. If you have the money and space for two single ovens, do it! And remember, if they're independent ovens they also don't have to be next to each other if the design works better to separate them.

Should I Buy A GE Trivection Oven as my Only Oven

The "hatbox" design of the Trivection ovens (the convection fan intrudes into the oven space a few inches at the back) means you only have about 12-13 inches of usable depth for a pan. Usable height is also kind of low. I have the Monogram ZET2 double ovens and recommend the ZET1 single oven (or a Miele, Dacor, or Thermador) convection oven over the Trivection. Michelle

yes have electric 3 yrs old & propane fueled 7 yrs old in different homes. no issues w doors (except to adapt to left closing). both perform well. electric more bells whistles being newer.. digital and pizza stone. however on advice on tech (we had 1 svc call for faulty thermostat ez repair but they pulled entire panel and replaced), pizza stone carefully removed, stored. this way oven heats and cools faster. note that neither throws excessive heat into space. trade off is a fan running to aid slow deliberate cool down. this might annoy in an open space eat in kitchen. our fan friendly oven is installed in walk in pantry utility room that houses freezer and extra refrig (main kitchen has 30" Leibherr)

My Maytag Gemini has similar ovens. They are two completely functioning ovens, the broiler (which is admittedly wimpy) is on the top of the top oven, which has a single rack. Each oven has a separate control and the lower oven has three racks and a convection fan. We use the top oven almost daily for all sorts of things, from baking a casserole to using it as a warming drawer.

NO! Any single oven is NOT the same as the advantium. Our last house we had the 240 advantium, and moved into our rental 10 months ago... new house, and new advantium in just 8 more days!! I can't wait for my advantium again.

oh, but about the original post - that looks VERY nice, and if I didn't already buy and have installed my single wall oven (under my Advantium) I would seriously have considered this!
