Umm...I was thinking of something a little more permanent. The dog wash will be tiled into the laundry room so I will want it to look somewhat attractive.

I couldn't find the picture online to show you, but in Better Homes and Gardens, Sept. 2006 issue, their kitchen of the year shows the mudroom with what they call a low shower. It looks like a regular shower really, but without doors or a curtain and also with a cabinet above. It shows a hand held sprayer. Right next to it, they have an alcove with the pet dishes and a cabinet above for storage of pet food, etc. I saved it for DH because he wants a boot wash and once the house is done, we will finally be able to get the boys a dog, (maybe a female? LOL!).

We are doing the same in our garage. Go to progroom.com they have stainless steel for the cheapest I've seen.

I remember an episode of "Kitchen Renovations" on DIY Network, where part of the renovation included a mud room off of the kitchen where they installed a "doggie shower/tub" for their two dogs. If you do a search on DIY and put in "kitchen mud room" you'll receive a couple of different hits, and one of them is the episode I'm referring to. Not sure how much information is there, but below is a photo.

You can just use a handheld shower head mounted low-- about waist level-- with or without an adjustable slide bar.

I'm going to keep my dog's water dish in the dog shower pan, as well as mount a hanging bar over it for drip drying clothes, and a fold down shelf mesh shelf for blocking sweaters and the like.

I'm using something very similar to this. I got the faucet and a stainless steel sink from Craig's List. It was from a florist that was closing and was about a year old. I paid about $200 for the sink and faucet. I hooked it up in my garage and will use it for the dog and other messy jobs.

Our walk-in shower has a rain-shower head and a conventional hand-held sprayer mounted on a vertical bar so the sprayer can be raised or lowered. Normally this kind of sprayer is mounted high on the wall, but I had it mounted low so I could sit on a stool to shower my Golden Retriever. Worked great . . . and when he shook, the water all stayed in the shower! Of course, after he "showered" I had to because I was soaking wet and dog-hairy! We're doing the same thing in the new house.

Agree with folks saying use a regular hand-held shower. Get a one-handed valve/temp adjustment and mount the water outlet fairly low. Get a standard holder/clip to put it aside. You can get adjustable spray handheld showers (we have a Hansgrohe that probably cost $40-50) that will give a normal spray, a massaging jet, or a slow pour of water.

Thanks guys for all of the great suggestions. I agree that a hand held might be the way to go. However, do they make them so that they are squeeze trigger activated or something like that? What I am envisioning is dropping the sprayer as I struggle with the dog and then the water will spray every way unless it automatically cuts off.

What you want is a real faucet/hose/sprayer unit. Once the faucet is adjusted to temperature the nozzle works with a simple squeeze valve- if you drop it the flow shuts off.
The one I have linked is spendy, but trust me- cheap ones will not last and this is a very durable unit. Our shop can see 100 dogs a day six days a week and we have been using the same sprayers for years.
