If you use bar soap in the shower, changing to liquid will change your life! (well, you'll spend way less time cleaning anyway.) :) Using a squeegee quickly after you turn the water off is a great way to keep very clean too.

Also, do not use SOAP at all if you want a cleaner bath/shower area. Use detergent bars. There is a big difference. Soap fell out of favor decades ago but has made a resurgence with "boutique style' bars of soap touting "all natural" ingredients and scents. They make the worst scum on tiles. Detergent bars leave far less deposits on surfaces.

The doors have to be wet so I took a shower and brought the sheets in with me and then wiped the doors down. I bought Bounce only because it was the smallest box I could find just to try them out but whoever told about this said it didn't matter which ones. My daughter used another brand and she said it worked great.

Remember to rinse the doors good after using the sheets. Now to be really thorough you could squeege the doors after rinsing or use this stuff called Invisible shield after getting the doors really clean and the water will just bead up. Any product that they use on windshields should do a good job too.

After reading this tip this afternoon, which I have seen before, I went to the store and bought a box of Bounce. We have such bad water here so I was hoping...nope it didn't make a dent in my scum etched class shower doors.

try Mr Magic eraser. That worked really well on my shower doors

Thanks Bmmalone, I am a Magic eraser groupie so I tried them some time ago on the glass but that didn't work either. However, I recently tried the eraser on my stainless steel sink (I was out of ss cleaner) and it worked like a charm.

I am certainly happy for those who had success. Perhaps if I had tried the sheets early on, it would have worked.

Mustang - if it's florida water, it's lime deposits, not just soap. We've got pretty much the same problem here, and sometimes, it does take a Muriatic Acid bath to get the stuff off.

Vinegar is the first try. Glacial Acetic Acid (concentrated vinegar, basically) is the second try, and CLR or other lime-busters is the last attempt - the stuff is evil on all non-vitreous surfaces, though - ideally, you take the doors off, lay them flat, put on rubber gloves, soak paper towels in the solution, wring them so they're not dripping, but more than 'damp' and lay them on the glass.

wow, wow, wow... who would have thunk!? I tried this and it worked fantastic!! It has cleaned the scum better then ANYTHING I have ever used.

Do you use the dryer sheets on a dry shower door or do you wet the door first? I have well water and am wondering if that will make a difference in if it will work for me.

Just happened on this site as I was reading updates on the Shark. Another pet peeve of mine are our shower doors with Florida water. I have tried everything but the dryer sheets. I do squegee after each shower but still have some spotting. I have found the Magic Eracer the best by far. I will however try the dryer sheets. Yes, they are terrific for stainless steel sinks. I actually use mine with a little stainless steel cleaner on it.

I read somewhere that you can put one in a pan with stuck on food, cover with hot water and leave overnight. The food should come right off. I haven't tried this myself yet.

i found a product that cleans hard water spots and soap scum with almost no effort, though that is not its intended purpose. it is from zep commercial, i bought it at home depot. it's called acidic toilet bowl cleaner. it's a bit stinky, and you'll want to wear gloves. it even took the years-old, hard water spots off my windows from the yard sprinklers.

looking on the bottle i noticed a website www.zepcommercial.com - i have not visited it.

hey mustangs-Did you try to use a brillo with oxy bleach pad on your shower doors? I tried the bounce sheets and they worked awesome! first I wet it just a little and 99% came right off. then I followed up with that brillo pad and my doors sparkle and look like new.
I'm glad I found this site and got that info as mine haven't looked so nice since they were new!

For those of you in Florida - see if you can find a concentrated cleaner called "WEB" - (made in Lake Worth, FL by Southland Products Co 561-582-4814 according to the bottle) - sold in Winn-Dixie and at ACE Hardware - combines strong detergent with acid so it removes the soap scum AND hard water stains - just did my shower doors - came out looking new !! - be sure to follow directions for diluting - and rinse well with water -- would suggest a stiff brush or plastic dish scrubber rather than Brillo pad - (aluminum doesn't like steel wool)- works super on tile too -

Dave, Do you think WEB would work on hard water stain in the bottom of a toilet? I would like to find something that would actually remove it where it is so hard to reach without having to drain the water from the bowl. I have a new ToTo toilet and the drain is VERY difficult to reach and we have been looking for something strong. This sounds like it might be it. We do live in south Fl and have both Winn Dixie and Ace nearby. What dept. is WEB in?

As I recall, WEB is in the soap/detergent/cleaners at both W-Dixie + ACE - (bottom shelf at my W-Dixie) - plastic jug - sort of a dark pink color liquid - just ask for it at ACE - they'll know it.
I have used it for years - construction biz - and have never been disappointed - probably do fine on your toilet if you add it full strength to the water in the bowl = and a gentle scrub with some sort of toilet brush -
