A Wedding Tablescape...

This has been a busy week.

My whole family was in a wedding Sunday...my dil's youngest sister.

It was lovely!

Love all the flowers, pretty dresses and those fantastic shoes! ;o) Guess what really caught my eye? Those wonderful chairs with the scalloped backs--so pretty! Sounds like you had a nice time and lots of good food too. Oh, and I would have ate the delicious cupcake quickly too! ;o)

Thanks for the compliments! I had so much fun with this table. DS helping made it special. Slinky, I'm hoping he will get more into this "dish-iese" with me. My DD likes them, but with 2 boys and another coming any minute, she hasn't gotten addicted yet. I'm going to start on a purple collection for her. She also says she has no place to keep them and the boys will break them. I may have to find her a china closet on Craig's List or at a thrift store. Mine came from a DAV store. She is sort of bummed out at never having a daughter. We had so much fun when she was growing up. It was basically just the 2 of us since she was 4 years old and she wanted someone to share girly stuff with, too. Thanks, Luvs. I've admired everyone's F&F for so long here. Never found anything on their site that made me want to pay those prices. These pieces were reasonable and fit in with my table. I found the one piece one month and the other piece the next! How cool is that? Donna, Love your table. How long have you collected state plates? My Aunt had a whole wall covered in state plates. I wish I would have asked for one when she died to remember her by. I so admire your napkins. It makes them so special when you make them. Sure wish I could have eaten with you! I LOVE pork BBQ! They have very nice table decor, but I agree the members here do as well if not better and for a lot less!! So, I don't have everything included, but still quite a bit less than what ETI charges! I agree that the members here set tables every bit as elegant as those on the above website and I'm sure ours are almost universally much less expensive than the prices charged for those tables! Plus, we have so much fun creating ours. No creative process involved if you just order a whole TableScape right off of the website and then you know there are other tables out there exactly the same. We know ours are unique!! I am not saying that the tables on the website aren't pretty. Just that the members here do as well on a budget and enjoy the creativity involved to boot! Janet, thanks for sharing this website. jane...I missed you...must have posted at same time. Thank you...the "stems" (glassware) got broke in a moving process yrs ago & stuck up the tipsy-top kitchen cupboards ...I was not careful enough...ugh! ...and didn't have the appreciation for them as I do now! A few yrs back I got so excited cause while browsing an antique store on lunch break from work (with friends) I spotted the same stems ...or so I thought & I bought them because they had the same star on etched in the bottoms...so here are the 2 diff patterns I have...they weren't the same "stems!" Ughhh...so now I don't know the ID of either one: Here's the ones from my Mom (I think): Tried to take evening pic of table last night: Does anyone know about these "stems?" I do have an elegant glassware book ...still looking for ID. Thanks! Jeanne S. ...thanks, nana, for your comments, too! Appreciated!

The first thing I would do is get the mirror hung. That can change the feel of whatever else is there, because it tends to multiply items and the overall effect. I would not use two lamps - as you said, the buffet is smaller, plus that feels like too traditional a look for your new piece. Each of the items you have is very nice, but all together they are totally unrelated in color, in style - but unfortunately too similar in height. I would find a different spot for the glass vase - I think it will be lost against the mirror. But if you do decide to keep it there, ,and want to add rocks, please do so carefully. I know of several people who have cracked glass vases (expensive or not) by dropping stones into the vase. You need to lay the vase almost on its side and slide the stones down the side, then gently turn it upright. Also, don't feel compelled to fill the entire width of the top with stuff. Sometimes each piece can be better appreciated if there is visual breathing room.

Beautiful pics, Kathleen! I especially loved the gorgeous flowers . . . and the bridesmaids' shoes. Your GS was darling in his little seersucker outfit,too.

Thanks, Lynn. The 2 yo was the ring bearer, and my 4 yo and 6 yo gsons were in it too. My 9 yo gdau was a Jr bridesmaid. My dil is the one with her back to you and my son is trying to calm the little one down.

Jane, I loved the shoes too, but I would never be able to walk in them!
Punk, it was a lovely setting!
Luvs, I ened up eating his cupcake too. They were delicious!
Thanks, Jay! Nyers do weddings up BIG. When I got married and my college friends from different states came, they were amazed. It is getting crazy though!
Before parties, Brunch the next day...$$$$$$

Kathleen, What a beautiful family and Wedding. Everything is gorgeous! So glad you were able to get a memory card for your camera. Those shoes are to die for.
I guess I am too old fashioned. I went to my nephews wedding a couple of wks ago. My brother in law ask me had I ever been to a muti-millionaires wedding. No, I have not. So, after a three hour drive, I was totally disappointed. There were two arrangements of flowers for decorations at the church. That's it..At the reception, there was one arrangement, I think it was one from the church.The bridesmaids didn't have matching shoes. The wedding cake had no topper, and there were no engraved napkins, just large white, sam's club napkins. Plastic plates and cups. LOL Guess I may have gone for all the wrong reasons. Do believe the bars must have had imported wine! The catered food was delish..Maybe our country weddings are over the top. Don't know..Or, perhaps I expected too much..A cupcake would have been nice. LOL Have you all ever been to a wedding like that? Didn't mean to high jack your post.

No, Creek, I haven't been to a wedding like that! NY weddings seem to be over the top. I know in different parts of the country, they do different types of receptions.
I did go to one in SC once that was just punch and little appetizers. People had to go find somewhere to eat dinner.
All the people from NY who went were quite surprised!
