We used American Standard fixtures in the bathroom, both with the sink, and the shower. I don't know that I love the shower head (plastic), or the cover plate in the shower (we have hard water, and it spots very quickly), but I love the sink faucet and taps. duchamp, I checked my clippings, I didn't save it and the post is so old it's dropped off the bathroom forum. Are you looking for how to build a niche (my husband just built it to my specification for overall height and height from the floor between the studs in the wall) or just the inspiration photo? It wasn't a "how to," just a photo which I ultimately adapted because I couldn't get it to work for me as it was. That was a bit stressful initially because I wanted it to be just that way, but I realized I could make it my way. I had the general concept but I couldn't recall how the glass shelf was supported so that it wasn't obvious, that's why I wanted the picture; I wanted to do it "right." The inspiration photo's magazine rack was hmmm....made with painted strips of wood, more country I think and I knew that wasn't going to get made and found the Pottery Barn rack for a great price on eBay. It was just easier to pop the purchased rack in and I like the final result better. I purchased a tempered glass shelf cut to my dimensions online, I'm not sure if the inspiration photo used tempered glass but I thought it would be safer even though I don't have kids running around. When it first was installed all I could notice was how the greenish tint to the glass edge clashed with the green paint on the wall, I don't notice it anymore. We ended up supporting the shelf (because I never could figure it out from the picture) with small, square dowels painted to blend. Again, I had had a different thing in mind with hardware but I guess I was dreaming that that existed so we needed to adapt. It's funny how the project caused so much fuss at the time because I wanted perfect and with all the adaptations I thought I was going away from perfect but of course in the end, it's perfect!

After digging around Decoart's site I'm assuming that is what you're talking about and I see they have a bunch of different sealers to pick from. Ha, can you tell I don't spend any time in the craft section? Anyone know if one works better than the others? I honestly know I'm not going to scrub the lights as often as I should in there so there and the hairspray makes a nice coating that's a pain to get off. Copied from website. OK, I've reread all(I think) of your posts now and I see your point about the wainscotting not really being truly visible in such a small space. You have options, but I really think the wood plank is not the way you should go, it is very far from what was your original inspiration. I am not sure it will make you happy. I think I would do the wainscotting, scaled down to fit the space. Layout/draw specifically the layout for each wall segment, the 36' toilet wall, the long wall next to the toilet, the sink wall. This is homework that will make the difference. The marble inset band needs to be fairly wide, maybe 6", it would be just at the level of the sinktop. Carry the marble band around the pony wall endcap, you could continue it around the shower, but I think you said you didnt want to. Top the pony wall with a marble sill. My only doubt in the cohesiveness, the peacefulness of this plan, is the two cabinets you want to put over the toilet(assuming I am remembering that correctly), I think they will make it heavy. So I would want to hold off on those until the space is complete and then decide. I think a chrome(I am assuming your finish is chrome) train shelf might be better to hold towels, yes it will not provide as much storage but perhaps it could do. I think this gives you the classic look you were inspired by.
