The New Electrolux Induction is a Hybrid! Good or Bad? Help!

It has personally taken us so long to get our project to this point, that the appliances I was looking at have changed! I went to try to make final choices and found out the new model is a hybrid:

3 radiant burners and 2 induction burners on the 36" model.

Do you think this is what people are wishing they had bought?

Are people sorry to have all 5 induction burners?

What are they missing?

Do people really long to put glass/copper on their cooktops that much?

I thought induction was genius, everyone would want it, if they didn't choose gas. If it's so great, why did they dump 3 of the burners??!! And add radiants that are slower, use more energy, and heat up the cooktop so that you burn spills on and have to let it cool before you can touch it. Help!

Electrolux makes a 5 burner all Induction. You have to choose "Icon" model to see them. To me, a hybrid model would bring all the drawbacks back--that a regular electric ceramic cooktop would have--ie food gets baked on,
surface gets very hot, not as responsive as Gas or Induction. One can buy an induction plate to set your copper or glass pots and pans on, if you really cant give them up, but we bought all new pots and pans $199 for what they call a 10 piece set ---atcually 4 of the 10 pieces are lids, but is more than nuff for wife and I.
If you can't find the totally Induction cooktop, gimmie a shout here, and I will fine the URL again. I did post it earlier for another user.

You're going to have more trouble than the birds are. Birds are immune to the effects of capsaicin, unlike mammals (I figured out that the squirrel digging in my potted peppers was burying nuts in the nice soft dirt, he didn't nibble. But the turkeys were eating the peppers in the garden til I put the deer netting we'd taken down for Irene back up.). In fact, they often include dried chiles in parrot mixes. Too bad for your friend, though.

OK we have the Electrolux Icon, (key word is Icon) to find that cooktop on the Electrolux web-site. Mine is the 30 inch model E301C75FSS4. We Absolutely Love it. Really fast, completely quiet (even thou it has a fan it has never come on--even with 3 burners going--alto not on high). We just can't recommend it enough, alto keep in mind we have only been using it a week or 2. Based on our other 3 Electrolux products that we have had for 3 years---we expect the cooktop to be as trouble free as those. I Think some folks don't believe the Electrolux is a Premium brand as Sears now sells them. When we bought the other 3 Electrolux) appliances They were not sold by Sears. When we bought the appliances for our kitchen, We completely ignored price Waited 30 years for this kitchen and figured waiting that long---we deserved what we wanted--(Ya Think?).So we are thrilled by all four Electrolux appliances now. Now that I've opened the control panel and properly connected the control cable for the oven, it works much better. The only continuing downside that I haven't fixed is the buzzing / rattle from the rear panel when the oven warms while the convection fan is on. I still despise the stupid blue clock. I wish the clock itself could just be turned off. My cats like it, oddly enough. I can tell because there are always cat prints on the surface. One day they'll learn. You betcha. The bottle of surface cleaner that comes with the stove is hard to remove. I've read somewhere here that there's a different product available that's much easier to work with. I can't remember which thread it was in or the name of the product, though. I've accrued one scratch on the cooktop surface. I noticed that the surface cleaner helps to keep the surface slick. The surface is always slick enough that I have to hold my pots and pans in place while stirring. Either it wasn't slick enough to avoid the scratch or I wasn't holding the cookware still enough. I guess it was bound to happen, though. Overall I still love it. So much easier to keep clean. The speed that it generates heat is great. I kind of like the buzzing sound it makes because I can just hear how high the power level is set without looking. (It's rather odd that the power levels go in weird numerical steps.) If you can get it on sale, go for it. It's definitely made by Electrolux, keeping the Kenmore tradition alive. (The tradition being that Kenmore isn't really a brand so much as a generic reseller.) I'm curious to see how it holds up over the years.

Ps. Most people who have cooked almost all of their lives don't want to learn something new. Understandable. But, induction has so many benefits, especially safety, that it is worth the unnerving. Be positive about this new miracle way of cooking. And an individual hob, a hot plate thingy, preferable at 1800 watts, is a wonderful idea. It is so precise. I think you can actually set the temp at say 325 degrees rather than at say medium high, and change in 5 or 10 degree increments. I don't have one and so think, via hearsay. Under $100.

Go all induction if you can. I settled on the bybrid Viking and every day I could kick myself. It is so much more difficult to keep clean. With all induction, you can clean as you cook. You can't just wipe up spills while you are cooking, with the others. Everything that touches the hot surface just burns or sticks to it. Then it is a bear to clean up. I finally resorted to using Ms Myer's cleanser and a mild scrubby. That gets it to brand new out of the box clean, but even that takes 4ever. Get the full induction. I may try to sell my hybrid to get full induction - no matter the brand at this point.

I bought the GE Profile 36" induction and have had it for one year. I love it! When I was shopping for a cooktop I looked at the Electrolux but didn't like the stainless steel frame around the cooktop - I thought it would make it harder to clean. So I went for the GE Profile, no frame. It's such a breeze to use and clean! I love it and have yet to regret splurging for it.
