Is this even possible?

I swear I posted this but I cannot find it, so here goes again....

Is it even possible to find an oven manufacturer that produces both an electric convection and a built in microwave convection who is really reliable?

I love the GE Trivection for features. I was going to get the GE Trivection and then a built in microwave, but the Adventium is giving some people strokes trying to get it serviced.

Then I thought KitchenAid and boy are the experiences here an on epinions a serious help to avoiding disaster!

We're not big cooks so just something nice will do, it doesn't need to be high end.

Is this possible? Will do Stainless if required:

Trivection-like electric oven, 30", black, reliable!

30" built in microwave with convection, reliable!

Maybe you've already been through this discussion here, but I'm not convinced anyone makes a microwave reliable enough that I'd want to pay the price for a built-in. The recent models, even though offering great performance while they last, only seem to last a few years. So if you pay hundreds for a built-in, you may have to do it again in too short a time, and may have issues fitting the hole with the right appliance. A lot of people here choose instead to put a countertop microwave in their choice of cabinet, so it can be replaced easily and affordably.

thank you, rhome410. I didn't realize that was even an option. Can I make a counter top microwave look "built in"? I already have a perfectly nice Kenmore microwave/convection counter top (albeit a white one, sigh) that'd I'd be happy not to replace. I could get a black one and somehow get a trim kit for it?

Ha-ha. Pirate Girl, I had to laugh at your comment, reminds me of one of those jokes that is peculiar to a family or group of friends. When my father-in-law was in a nursing home shortly before he died, there was a lady there who suffered from extreme dementia, and all she did, all day long, was sit in a wheelchair and mutter "I just want to go where I want to go, I just want to go where I want to go..." Very sad, really, for the lady, but it did become a special family moment. The opportunity to use it pops up in unexpected places, like when we saw video feeds from Mars,and the Rover was bumping into a rock, backing up, bumping into the rock, backing up, on and on. My husband mutters "I just want to go where I want to go, I just want to go where I want to go," and we all cracked up.

I live out in the country. The deer are welcome to eat anything they want on most of my 39 acres but sometimes they choose to eat MY plants. I have chosen mostly deer resistant plants but I don't think there is anything that is totally deer proof. Sometimes they'll go after plants that they haven't ever touched before. I use a home made spray on the plants I know they do like and on the plants I've noticed them taking a nibble at. Start spraying early in the season before the deer have gotten a taste for the plant and keep at it (almost daily) seems to keep the herds at bay for the most part. My deer spray: A good squirt of dish washing liquid and six or ten (whatever) drops of Chinese hot chili oil in a quart spray bottle. Fill with water. Shake. Spray plants thoroughly. Repeat often. Or you can put a deer fence around your property/gardens.

Worms will not leave an open-bottom bin...... unless they NEED to. If conditions in the bin become intolerable , (ie: too hot, cold, too much food, ect.) they may go down for a short vacation. This is a good thing, as they will return later rather than perish. Outdoor open-bottom bins are very forgiving. ( disclaimer: I wear a sweatshirt all summer here :) Harvesting... That could be challenging due to having to dig out the black gold. One simple way is to divide the bin in half and feed/compost one side at a time. When you stop feeding that side and begin feeding the other side, the worms will migrate laterally. After a month or two you can harvest the original side free of most worms. If you can source a couple of old plastic milk-crates, you could simply build your bin to fit 2 or more of these crates. Sitting side by side. compost 1 crate until full then start the next crate. After the migration, lift out your first crate then dump and replace into the system. I use this method... easy, simple, and NO DIGGING!!!!

First coat of oil based poly IS generally gloss as it has a higher solids content and forms a thicker film easier. Second coat has the flatteners mixed in and gives you te more matte look.

I will say my Magic Chef microwave/hood combo has been going strong for 10.5 years and it's terrific (1.2 cu ft and 1400 watts). With that said, the plastic trim and such have started to crumble so we will be getting a counterop (not built in) in our new kitchen. I just think it IS possible to have a microwave that lasts more than a couple of years. How to predict which one it is ... Ahhh..that's the question!I would have to agree with rhome410--in that I'm erring on the side of putting a countertop model in a cubby rather than building in...

berf - the hard part here is judging 10 year old appliances by today's standards. I think quality decreases every year.
