Dacor Epicure vs Electrolux Icon Wall Ovens - HELP??!
Comments (6)"Frigidaire makes Electrolux, In my opinion they have a long ways to go with this new brand. They have had several update kits already put on the market to fix issues with the ovens control. When I say they I mean Electrolux." It would really be nice if you did your "Homework" before posting the "Poppycock" above. Had you bothered to even check the posts on GW, you would know that Fridigaire was bought by Electrolux, and Elux markets Fridigaire as their lower priced brands, and we see quite a few positive posts about the Fridigaire brand. The Elux Brand is maketed as a mid-priced brand, while their Icons are priced a bit above that. Elux has lead the way in many innovations as far as ovens go. Fully gliding out racks on ball bearings,"Coolest oven door in the industry", Perfect Turkey---fast preheat----etc etc etc! Also had you read GW, you would see that "MOST" folks that bought the Elux ovens are very happy with them, both from a reliablity as well as a performance perspective. They have also been happy with the service they received if it was ever needed. Elux did have a lotta Fridge problems a few years ago, and they did not handle those problems very well, but they learned from that, and we see few complaints as far as their ovens go. Kinda Sad to see somebody with the title "Appliance & Refrigerator Repair", be so "unimformed" I guess you got your "Training" from Sales People? (Most who are not "Reknown" for their appliance knowledge). Anyway, read GW, for a while, before making your next post, and that "Next Post" will certainly be more "Knowledgible" than the above, (Or at Least I HOPE)!!...See MoreWall Ovens: Electrolux vs. Bosch vs. Jenn Aire
Comments (4)I looked at the Bosch and Electrolux. For some reason, I had it in my head that JennAire was not good value and/or quality/reliability (I started researching last fall so I don't remember all my reasoning or sources). I ordered the regular Electrolux on Monday. I like the smooth rolling racks, covered element and controls. Those set it apart from the Bosch for me. I have a note in my appliances spreadsheet that the Bosch racks seemed flimsy to me in person. You may to check out the GE Monogram which I thought were nice but too square for me, so maybe what you are looking for....See MoreOvens: Miele vs. Advantium + Wolfe
Comments (8)Take the time to do a search here in GW, on the main appliance page, just use your "back arrow" to get to the appliance page, and then at the bottom of the page, type in Miele Oven. If you don't do this, you "could be" stressed more than You are now. There are a number of reports here, as well as other web-sites, where posters are complaining about "Low Temperatures" on the Miele ovens, sometimes as low as _50F from the set temp and some instances of -100F. We have seen no posts, so far, that this problem has been resolved. Do all Miele ovens have this problem??? Nope but if you are into "Crap Shoots" then do as the saleman suggest, Yes they may be "Better Built", but to me, that means when you tell it what to do--IE heat to 400 F, to me, "Better Built" means it would do it time and time again, as does the Electrolux Icon oven I've had for >5 years now and trouble free and always spot on temp wise. Rhome has had good luck with her Wolf oven, so another place to look. As many of us here Mention, Not one manufacturer makes the best of everything, Miele makes great Speed ovens and dishwashers, almost a sure bet on those---at least according to the info available to us, at the present time, their ovens are not in the same category as above! Good luck on your Hunt!!! Gary...See MoreElectric double wall oven: Wolf Miele Electrolux or Thermador
Comments (3)I agree with Deeageaux with a few additional comments. We were faced with a similar situation as you are. We went to order the Electrolux Icon and the store had a 3 year old Viking floor model that was discontinued. After researching on GW and reading the issues with Viking (most dealt with gas ranges, fridges and DW in conjunction with their customer service) we decided to make an offer on the Viking. We offered them 50% of the $6,200 normal price and they accepted. We have been very pleased with our choice and it has worked out for us. While the Wolf is the best oven on your list, keep in mind that it is still a floor model. The doors may have been opened more in a weekend than you will open them in a month. We chose to get an extended warranty (normally we don't) because it was a Viking and it was a floor model. After 18 months (6 beyond the normal warranty) the hinges on the top oven started to fail and the distributor's repair company replaced both upper and lower hinges on the extended warranty at no cost to us (I also know how to change them out now and can do it in the future if necessary). In my opinion you can always increase your offer, but you can never get them lower. I feel that floor models are not a deal unless you get a minimum of 1/3 off, so I normally start at a 50% discount level. Keep in mind that that unit has helped the store sell products for 5 years, and as Deeageaux said, all they can do is say no. Decide what you are willing to pay and remember it needs to be worth the risk that you will carry, not the store. Good luck....See Moreacgummad
