Bill, Mongo: no threshold to shower..Kerdi? Nobleseal? Both?

Hey guys....

We're in the planning stages of the next (and hopefully the last) bathroom remodel. This is the guest bathroom in the basement.

We're going to once again use the marble mosaic we used upstairs...it's approximately 1/2 X 1 inch mosaic. In the powder room, we used NobleSeal instead of the Ditra, given the small size of the tile. In the master bath shower, we used the Kerdi because, well...it's in the shower!

In the basement bathroom, we're going to have no threshold. The floor is going to be continuous into the shower. We'll use the Kerdi system/drain in the shower again for sure, but what I'm wondering is what to do with the REST of the bathroom floor. Should we use Kerdi throughout, even though it won't get wet? Or should we use the Nobleseal for it's anticracking properties and somehow match it up with Kerdi somewhere near the shower? Joel says to tell you that the base for this basement bathroom will be concrete and a mud bed, no plywood.

He's thinking we should just do the Kerdi throughout. Do you agree??

Thanks!

Ivette
