Thanks hudsonleigh! The slate is called Indian Autumn. We've enhanced it, and are really pleased with the variety and intensity of colors it has.

Nice looking work. He did a great job with the niche and the feature on the wet wall! I was looking at this in a couple of the other threads where you'd already posted some pics. I'm envious! I'd have loved to install that! Looks to me like you've already got a good guy, though. :-)

After all the advise and help, that means a lot to me Bill, thanks so much!! Yes, I did post in a couple of other threads for examples, but was really hoping you hadn't seen those! shucks! :c) I'm tickled to hear your feedback about the niche and wall feature, as you may recall my GC and I were going rounds about that niche. He wanted to use a box, I wanted a built in so we had more options with size. It was a real tug a war, but in the end, I did what you said, I stuck to my guns and love the result. We have a glass shelf on order for the middle which I think will look nice too.

As I mentioned in the other post, we used a sample of mosaic noir travertine we already had for the embelishment in the niche. I love how it helps to tie the niche in with the travertine bench. You were right, that slate is really something to work with. To our GC's credit, he ran way over schedule but didn't allow that to compromise the quality of the job. I can't wait to post the final pics when it's done. It's taken forever and mentally, I've already started on our next project! A backsplash and another bathroom; and of course I'll be turning to you for help with those too!! Seriously though, I found the forum right before we started this project and knowing you and Mongo were here to answer questions and clarify things has been a HUGH help, and very much appreciated. Hey Lukki, do you have a more straight-on, full shot of the niche? I'm curious to see just how the mosaic looks with the 12x12's -- I'm doing something similar and more visuals are always helpful.

Hey Leigh! I tried taking a new pic for you, but could only get a shot of the bottom half. We're painting and have the top half covered with plastic. But I also found a pregrout photo that's almost full shot, not quite but almost, thought it would help too.

I have a question on your glass shelf for the niche. How are you attaching the shelf in the niche, and what kind of place did you order the shelf from?

Hi Julie,

We are going to drill holes into the grout and have 4 little metal dowels that the shelf will sit on. We already had our dowels, but you can buy them at Lowes or Home Depot.

The glass we ordered through Henderson (I think it's a national chain) where they'll cut to any size. Glass in a shower is required to be tempered. A 4x14 piece of 1/4 inch thick tempered glass is running us about 30.00.

Yeah, I did this just before Father's Day. You had more important things going on if you have kids.

The GC is coming today to work on our grout issue, oh joy. I'm very apprehensive and don't have a good feeling about how this is going to turn out. Wish us luck.
