Nope, it has some kind of bleaching agent I noticed when I cleaned DDs grout. Nope, it absolutely, positively does not, unless you are using some generic ME knockoff (which I cannot comment on). The actual [trademarked] Magic Eraser has no soap and no bleaching agents in it. What you are describing is simply coloration from water with melamine residue mixed in, but this is just temporary and will rinse off easily. Melamine foam has been in manufacture for decades, and was most commonly used as an insulation, often for pipes. It was only in the last decade or so that someone found out quite accidentally that this same cellular structure lent itself well to also being a mild abrasive. And that's its thing: it's an abrasive. Nothing more.

I personally think that the Magic Erasers are one of the best ideas in the last decade, as far as cleaning goes...(I was so impressed with the scrubbing bubbles for cleaning mini blinds...) I have used the erasers on whiteboards that got marked on with permanent markers, refrigerator handles that get disgusting with 3 men and a couple grandsons in and out, Step 2 toy box bookshelf that had been in the shed for a couple months, grunge on cabinet doors, pots and pans, light switches, front door, back door.....I use it at least 3x a week on something! Most of all to my surprise, we bought a used car that needed a LOT of TLC a couple years ago....looked like someone had skimmed the fenders and bumpers on wet paint, (white paint on a red car). To my amazement, it came off without a hitch! I also used it on the leather seats, dash and steering wheel. A couple years before that, the white car had brushed the tractor fender and I used it to remove the red paint from a white car! GO MAGIC ERASERS!!

I am amazed at the Magic Eraser...My son gave me one to clean up a big toy shelf I had got the grandsons at a garage sale, worked wonders...since then... Youngest son got too close to the tractor fender with my white car...red smear down the front fender...POOF- gone with Magic Eraser... Recently bought used red car, sporty little thing, with white paint on almost every angle of the finders, bumpers, etc...the girl who drove it must not have had good depth perception, or just plain careless. It took 5 of them to do the trick, but it ended up perfect! My husband thought I was crazy to take on that car looking like that...next thing I knew, he had his own pail of water and eraser...SIL works at a collision repair franchise, and they use them there too.... Wonderful things....

Use a knife that holds a single sided razor blade to scrape off most of the food. Make sure you wet the surface first to reduce the chance of scratching the glass and hold the blade so it runs close to parallel to the glass, not upright. You don't want to gouge the glass or scratch it but if you keep the surface wet and keep the blade parallel to the surface you can use quite a bit of pressure on the blade without any worries. After you get most of the baked on food loosened from the surface, you can use a Magic Eraser to remove the rest of it. You'll need to rub quite hard in some cases to remove what is still left. If there is grease on the top after using the Magic Eraser you can use a chemical designed to remove the remaining grease. Once all the grease is removed and if the cooktop is black and you want it to look its very best then lightly spray it with a glass cleaner and buff it dry using a very dry microfiber cloth. Keep wiping until completely dry and you'll get a streak free glossy finish that looks like new! This step works well but only if you get all the grease removed, otherwise the grease will streak as you're drying the glass cleaner. Hope this helps you.
