Hi, I'm new!

Hi! I'm dishcindee/Cindee, either one is OK by me : )

Retired from being a mostly SAHM all my life, have done daycare in our home....along with my DH for the past 10 yrs. Early on I was a hairstylist....back in the roll it 'n rat it days, lol.

I've lurked here for almost a year now. I too LOVE dishes & table 'stuff'. Have never tried to take & post pictures though, so may take awhile to get my feet wet. Meanwhile, can I just comment & visit for a bit?

Welcome Cindee! I never knew I had a love of dishes until I started coming here :) Now, I have to restrain myself from buying any more or hubs will have a fit!

Welcome. You're quite a good artist. I note that you haven't posted any new pictures for a while. Are you still doing any paintings? I'm apparently north of you in zone 7-7a. Our Master Gardeners assoc. has a couple of greenhouses and a big plant sale in April with lots of vegetables. We'll be starting the pepper seeds in another week or two, but won't start the tomatoes for several weeks. We don't put them outside at all, so don't have to worry about late freezes. We're mostly fairly positive about our stepkids (future stepkids, SO's kids, etc), but like everyone, we sometimes get frustrated and need to voice our complaints. There are a few people here who have some antiSM sentiments and will not always give constructive advice... But even the grouchies have occasional gems to offer. I'm glad you're here! We do have an "introduce yourself" thread somewhere, but I suck at the search engine, so I can't find it for you. My quick story: I'm FSM to a 9yo boy who I call A__ on here. FDH and I are getting married in November. A__ has monster ADHD so can be quite a handful, but he has a big heart. FDH was never married to BM, and actually A__ isn't biologically his, but is the only dad A__ has ever had, and decided to continue that back when he and BM broke up. BM can cause occasional headaches, but is mostly alright. I'm also an adult SD and get along great with my SM. I am more likely to need help with helping FDH parent, and ADHD management than with actual stepfamily issues.

Hi! Thank you for your replies. I will definitely stay with the diagonal now. ngng: Your kitchen looks so lovely! I want wood cabinets in the next house. Mine were an ugly, grainy, weird oak so I painted them some years ago and don't have it in me to redo them again since we plan to move in a couple of years. remodelfla: My floor plan is not an open one. The kitchen/breakfast area is separate from the family room. However, I like way the bronze Fleur de lis picks up the bronze looking flecks in the granite. I thought about smaller squares of the granite used as an accent but wanted something a little different. It's so hard to only do a bit of updating! I start to get carried away as so much needs to be done, but I really don't want to invest anything (time or money) since we aren't staying here. But it's so outdated and yucky!! We rented this house before we bought it 15 years ago and only bought because I was having a baby when the owners put it up for sale and didn't want to face a move after only just moving in a year prior! I never really liked the layout of the kitchen or the floor plan of the house! And here I am 15 years later! Time flies! Thanks for your suggestions! It has helped me!

Hi Kelly and welcome to the KT. I have been on KT a short time but a long-time Garden-Web (and now Houzz) member on several other forums. Mostly Garden Design in the old days, my state gardening page (Alabama) which isn't very active anymore, and Home Decorating and the conversation side over there, plus a few others I go to for random advice now and then. I'm an almost-retired engineer (June!), married to the love-of-my-life. We have 3 adult kids, 6 grand-kids we follow around watching them play sports. I spend the rest of my time digging in the dirt/gardening, running, working out, hiking, and doing anything I can to be outside. Hence my name.

Welcome Cindee, I'm so glad you decided to come out and join us. And so nice you introduced yourself, I always love hearing about others who share our interests.

If you've been lurking a year, you know how things slow down during the summer months with a lot of the gang gardening or on vacation and such. That's when the tablescapes and dish-nuts really get us thru the non-holidays. So please post often and join in anytime, the more the merrier.

Welcome Cindee....I'm a lurker here too, but do comment on all of the wonderful displays here. Folks here are so creative and just a great group. They've been good to welcome me to the forum even though I just watch and comment...haven't posted anything here yet. I'm on the Garden Junk forum with Karen, but I like to stop in here too. You're gonna love it I'm sure. And congrats on your "retirement"!

I've been M.I.A. since shortly after New Years, but will be commenting occasionally. I live outside in the summer.
I come inside too late and tired to set a pretty table. Usually grab a sandwich on a paper plate or a bowl of cereal if I forgot to throw something in the crockpot that morning. Shhhh... don't tell the others about the paper plates. I have a reputation to uphold!
