Your Opinion Of The Best Dishwasher Under $2K For Hard Water.
Comments (4)The highest end Miele's do not clean better, nor are they better built. They just have extra features, which it sounds from your description aren't very important to you. The differences between those two models are: -Custom door panel required on G5675 -2 extra cycles on G5675 -3D cutlery tray on G5675 -Control location (G5225 front, G5675 top) -Auto open drying on G5675 (opens door at end of cycle automatically) The G5225 is a really nice DW, with all the Miele "essentials": water softener, cutlery tray, China/Crystal cycle. I don't think you would be disappointed with it....See MoreWhat's the best use of this 87 inches? Opinions please!
Comments (19)Thanks for the suggestion of a corner sink. It's always great to hear ideas that you hadn't even thought of! I don't think we will go with a corner sink though, because I'm thinking it will be nicer to have a view of the dining area from the sink. Also, we feel we would need that countertop space to the left of the range (this wasn't shown in my original pic on this thread). I don't think a single drawer dishwasher would be large enough for us. DH is already pretty set on keeping a standard 24'' DW. The doorway used to have a door in it, so it still has a door frame with hinges. My measurement of this doorway in my diagram includes this frame. Possibly we could have the doorframe removed and gain a couple of inches there? Not sure how expensive this would be? I think we want to stick with full overlay, even though I think you're right about not having to use as much filler with partial overlay. I think full overlay will give us a more modern look. I have drawn up a diagram of what we have been thinking of for layout, incorporating a couple new ideas from buehl. (Thanks buehl :) ) We may be limited in some of our choices because I don't think the cabinet lines we have been looking at offer customization to sizes other than in 3'' increments. I hope I am wrong about this. (I have posted a new thread here with this question and will also investigate with KDs on Mon). This is the reason for 3'' of filler beside the DW, when probably less would do. Unless I can customize some other cab along that 87'' wall to be something not divisible by 3, the total filler on that wall will still end up being 3''. I don't know if that makes sense because it's starting to get a little late. I want to get this posted before you east coasters get up tomorrow morning :) Anyway, here's what I have for now -- Base cabinets, clockwise from bottom left: - 3'' filler (if necessary), possibly as a pullout - 24'' DW - 24'' sink base with undermount sink (size of sink?) - 36'' x 36'' super susan (alternatively I could make the SS 33'' and the pullout 6'' Â not sure which would give more space) - 18'' double trash pullout with drawer for cutlery on top - 30'' electric range - 18'' drawers (set of 3 or 4?) - 3/4'' finished panel depth of fridge - 33'' fridge, standard depth - 4 1/4'' filler, possibly converted to broom closet (I like the idea of eliminating the window sill and will enquire about cost). Wall cabinets, clockwise from top left: - 18'' cabinet - 36'' cabinet (Alternatively 36'' then 18''. Would possibly match better, but maybe not as easy to get into double cab? Either way, not sure if we need 1'' filler at far left next to wall? Â) - 30'' OTR MW/hood with cabs above - 18'' cabinet with spice rack inside door - 33'' fridge cabinet 24'' deep (not sure if we can get deeper than that) (Alternatively we could get a 36'' cabinet above the 33'' fridge. Would......See MoreDishwasher that gets dishes reasonably dry (plastics too)
Comments (3)Asko dishes are clean and dry, Unless there's a place for water to sit. It uses Turbo dry, it's a fan dry system not heated dry. Dishes shine and are dry, plus no fingerprints or water spots on the outside of the dishwasher because of the touch free stainless. I clean it a lick and a promise with a dishrag and microfiber once ever week or two. I have to stand back and really look for any spots. My old dishwasher front was always disgusting. My husband and child don't think about the water they drip down the front. I bought the top of the line, D5654XL with tubular handlen. It holds a ton of dishes and the racks are flexible, tines or no tines. They move around to suit whatever you're washing. Good luck in your search....See MoreOT: perennials in hot, dry climate? Comments (33)I'm definitely going to try gauras; they look beautiful. But again, about lithodoras: Nik,fduk says it's not a true acid lover, and my soil isn't that alkaline; if it was, wouldn't I have more chlorosis issues? People say that Reine des Violettes is prone to chlorosis in alkaline soil; mine have never had it. I seem to have an impression that Excellenz Von Schubert sometimes shows mild cases of it, but my plants are all very young. What about the drainage issue; what do you think of that? the thing about the creeping thyme failing in the actual garden, but being happy elsewhere? I'm curious to try this plant again, messing with the soil a bit. I do see that on the Perennials forum, somone says that it's easier to alkalinize one's soil than it is to acidify it,but maybe soil ph isn't what the problem was......See Morergillman
