Found any good new-to-you online nurseries?
Comments (34)This is where I go to purchase plants.Russell Garden wholesale.I'm an 1 1/2 hrs away and believe me its worth the drive.Especially if two people go and you share the gas. Don'T take to many people in your car. Believe me you will want to fill your car after you see the prices. Be aware there is another Russell's near by they are only annuals, This is the link for perennials. I dont think you can order online unless your a business, but you can shop there, anyone can. You can buy one plant or dozens. their prices & quality are very good. Some plants have already over wintered so the root system is strong. One thing to watch for is plants dying off and going out of season. If they are re-seeders they might not come back. In our local shops, I would pay 15.00 for the same plant I pay 5.00 at Russells. Comments (1)We use a combination of Nickel Plus and K-Phite. It's working great. We spray with both, using a sticker-spreader we got at Tractor Supply. We also add their blue dye now, because it helps us see where we have missed a spot. It isn't very easy to see through goggles, with sweat pouring down in your eyes. Just avoid spraying any blossoms, unless you are really desperate for a blue daylily. We were advised to spray once a week for 3 weeks, then wait 3 weeks before spraying again. I've only sprayed once this fall, since it has been raining off and on ever since. Occasionally, I will have a plant that shows sign of rust, but nothing like it was before I started using the nickel. I wouldn't use anything else. Well, let me take that back. I am going to try some Actinovate on just a few isolated and unimportant plants to see how it works. The only thing I don't like is having to don all that protective gear, but I wouldn't have it otherwise. I'm very cautious. We use goggles, a special pesticide mask we bought at Lowes, chemical gloves (also at Lowe's), rubber boots and a yellow rain slicker. My hubby and our yardman refuse to put on a garbage bag drawstring skirt, but if I'm doing the spraying, I wear that, too. I'll have to get my hubby to take a picture of me in that fancy outfit so everyone can get a good laugh. When the weather is warm, we get very sweaty in all that garb! We start very early in the morning while it is still cool. We have a big tank sprayer on wheels we pull behind our riding lawn mower. It runs on the lawn mower battery. We got an extra length of hose so we can cover more territory. One of us drives the lawn mower while the other sprays. I could do it by myself, but it takes longer to have to keep stopping to move the mower ahead. We wash the tank out thoroughly after spraying and run clear water through the wand when we have finished. Aren't you cold climate people lucky??? Nancy...See MoreOur trip across the pond
Comments (23)Rosewitch, England was definitely one of my favorite places I have ever visited. My folks took me there when I was 14, and I remember bits and pieces the Crown jewels, walking amongst the Stonehenge stones (roped off now, vandalism), Stratford upon Avon. Time for me to take my own 14YO. Im trying to think how I can get over there for a whole summer, LOL. Dlynn, I could have worked so much more. I didnt really look at night time stuff and there was loads to do. Greece: cant help you, but shoot Yasou a line, she went a few years ago. LOL Annie! Teresa, well go together. I wanted to explore more cooking and food shops/stores but didnt get to. Terri, here is more a link to Pictures of England, a website pointed out to me by Denise. I started it on Bourton on the Water, where we stayed for a few days. Thanks Sharon, I was actually thinking how can I even come close to posting her quality of travel guides, I dont do the pictures she does LOL. We might have sat at the same table in the Cheshire Cheeses dining room! Sawdust still there, but we didnt make it to the cellar. I missed a lot of the British Museum. It has changed.check out the new atrium. I couldnt keep up with DH and DS16. Afternoons, when I planned museums, I crashed. Next time! Pam, lots of people did more than we did per day! Theater every night, more attractions, I cant imagine. Gina heh heh yeah I need another vacation like a hole in my head. Speaking of whichDH has another week off in August. Nooooooooo! Kathleen, DH says he took an average of 200 pictures a day. Yup. Me, I just buy the post cards or Google the images, same thing (DARFC from the photo bugs here) Cathy, thanks for giving me the War and Peace moniker heh heh. Next time I go with CF friends! LindaC, I know. Im still exhausted. Speaking of the V&A, did you know there was a Dale Chihuly chandelier in the entrance room?...See MoreHope I can help others avoid HUGE problems
Comments (12)Caligirl, That's a good point about the most recent 3 or 4 references. Ngng, unfortunately, the bulk of our deposit was by cheque, they couldn't accept VISA at first (so Ni has a good point about the not accepting credit cards- arghhh)- the last vanity/granite top was paid with VISA and supposedly I will be getting both of those next week (Still have to see). We are actually in a 'not bad' position. We still owe them a fair amount of money, and so essentially have not paid for the granite that has already been installed (and needs to be replaced). They say they will still be giving us the replacement granite (but won't be doing final fabrication and install). Not sure if that means we are not expected to pay for it (Guess that may be one reason they're going under). But, our granite needs to be replaced, and am not looking forward to that hassle. Can't even start looking for new fabricators until I know if I am getting this new granite. I now have to look for a carpenter to finish off the last few cabinet details. I just hope that my experience and advice can help prevent someone else from going through this. What should have been the experience of a lifetime (renovating our house from top to bottom) has been an ongoing night mare- 1 and 1/2 years and counting, and the kitchen is STILL not finished!...See MoreATGStores.com
