Finally, a shot of my pastel snowmen

I know this is a little late but I just now downloaded photos from my digital. I promised LUVS that I would post a picture of my pastel Snowmen so, here they are.

Wow, thank you for looking and for all the kind words. All of you inspire me on a daily basis. :) Medo- I love weird colored things too. LOL. Bonnie- I'm glad you like the shape! It was kind of scary digging up so much grass, I felt like I was going to get in trouble or something, LOL. DH told me that he thought the shape slightly resembled a golf course.....he may just be bitter though. :p Terrene- Our soil is mostly heavy sticky clay, the new beds were very light and almost dust. I amended everything with homemade compost and store bought manure. I add seaweed to my compost, that's my only secret. I've sworn off chemical fertilizer and only add it to the containers. I'm trying to figure out which plant you're talking about....the one to the left of the Forsythia and to the left of the Hosta are Solomons Seal that a nice friend traded with me. Trumpet vines would be awesome, unfortunately I think my neighbors would object. I overheard one of them say my garden looked like an "weedy jungle" and the one on the other side thinks I'm insane already. Lynne- I've lived vicariously through this forum for years! I'd be more than happy to share some of the pink Hollyhock seed when they're ready. I grew the pink and peach from a mixed bag of seed and according to my mom they were gathered from a pink, peach and a darker maroon plant (which I have yet to see). I have some of the original seed ready to go right now if anyone would like them. Just shoot me an email! :)

Second round rec'd today - thanks so much Kim! This should just about take care of the final few jugs of wintersowing I had left; very ready to be done with it :-). Will get the stamps out to you ASAP. For all the gripes I have with the PO, they did manage to get them here durn quickly I think, and for that I thank them; and I thoroughly understand, Kim... I'm not good with numbers myself... words yes, numbers no way. ;-) Re the move, Kim and stage_rat, that's just been a dream of mine for 20+ years... not going to happen any time soon (if ever). Yes, need to let things settle here I guess; I do tend to cut and run when things get bad (or just turn my music up really loud). My mom and dad moved 80 miles away several years ago (to get out of the city), and now my mom tells me I can't move to Oregon until *they* die... (???!!!) lol. This from the woman who moved away from her whole family in PA to *TX* and then eventually to *MO*. lolol. And she's only half kidding when she says I have to wait. Sooooo, here's hoping I survive long enough to move to Oregon. :-) Anywho, thanks for the kind words, and again thanks for the great swap and the great seeds. Best wishes to all. Terri

Let me just say, you guys are just the best. I have actually LOL at some of your comments. I love it. Ingrid: As mentioned in my post, I'm painting the railing back to black, its original color. It's been white for more than 10 years, and I'm tired of it. I think I have a picture of it when it was white last week. I will post in my next set of pictures. I'm not sure the picture will look good with a black frame. I will post it also and you can give me your critique then. The black chandy is exactly my thought process. Graywings: I like your idea of a bench, but space is premium in that small space. I'm afraid a bench might really congest it more, but I am willing to give it a try as that never occurred to me. Moving the shelf off the wall will allow me to see the bench. Lighting is definitely the key as the ceiling is quite high and I don't have that lovely window Oceanna has. During the holidays, I place poinsettias on every other step and have gotten lots of compliments, but a few of you are poo-pooing the plants, so that's probably a scratch. The word art on the risers (every other one), may be enough. You may be on to something about the clock wall and I may just have the thing to try. Where are you suggesting I put chair rail in the foyer? Love my black wrought iron railings. Enailes: Yes, I love pastels. I'm loving the idea of cream walls for that area. HD finally has samples that can be purchased for $3.97. I bought three today. Just remembered, I have sconces, not brass and glass, that I purchased from JCP at a ridiculously low price. Will pull them out to take a look. The swing doors are going away-just not yet. I consider them part of the kitchen so they will be in kitchen redo. The kids love those doors, as does my contractor. What does he know at 33 :). Teacats-You just blow me away. I am lol at your post. Simple and to the point--stop apologizing-this is just what I need. Got my big girl panties on today and nothing you can say offends or hurts. I asked for it remember? The railings were white for 10+ years--time for something new. Door wouldn't look good in white, imo. It's solid and it will either take black or remain as is with a redoing of the stain. You are the second person to suggest a bench. I am going to try it. Will "borrow" a bench just to get an idea. I still think the area's too small but you guys have me just about convinced to do it. The swing doors are addressed above. Joanie: Got three paint samples from HD today. Will mark up more of the wall and take pictures. Enailes suggested neutrals also. The colors are more creams than tans. I like Behr paint and will choose from one of their palettes. I think I have an idea what you might have over your front door. No dried flowers-I promise :). I saw that Design to Sell show. I love my wrought iron railing, so it'll have to stay. I have a large family room downstairs with bookcases. I think once something black is hanging from the ceiling-the railing will seem a good choice. Magazines and HGTV are killing me. When I was updating my two small bathrooms, I used several ideas from both and loved them. I have two months of DTS taped for other ideas. Always something good. Please, keep the good critiques coming. I'll wear the "big girls" for a few more days :)). Peachie

Ok guys you were all so helpful before. What do you think of the new layout? We ended up moving the stove back to its own wall and putting larger (24”) counters and cabinets on either side. I may splurge and do a stove alcove type thing. Waiting on pricing to see what if it’s feasible. I am coming to terms with having to get rid of my dining room furniture. 😬😂 I am still hopeful that, while I may have to get rid of my pink velvet loveseat I bought just for this - I hope I can find a place for at least a larger comfy chair. I really want some soft seating for Sunday coffee and newspaper. I don’t want anything in the island and would prefer it to be more of a work table with an open bottom. I know that I would get a better layout if I would budge on that but I won’t. So knowing that the island is off limits for storage and fixtures how does this look? What am I missing? (Note that the island is not to scale. I had to add it in with my iphone. There will be at least 42” - in most places 48” around the island. Only two small stools that will fit under the island.)

Beautiful! And I love the painting...it would look great in my dining room!
And Judith mentioned on another forum she is cooking up an idea to use her cupcakes on a Cmas tree, so PF you are def not late, but early as Sandi said.

BEAUTIFUL !!!! And I also love your lamps. No where does it say we can't show Xmas in April. LOL. I think its great to see now.

Thanks, all. The painting is a print - can you tell I like pink and green? And the lamps are from Old Time Pottery, purchased several years ago, and are a champagne gold ( a mix of silver and gold). I change them out every so often for a different look. The large Snowman I made from felt. He is about 16" high. And if you look closely, some of the snowmen have wings. I collect Santas and Snowmen and a few angels and have a house full during Christmas.

I plan to decorate this year with all of my new stacking plates (my sister is holding them for me in Pennsylvania). I have one problem though, we were able to get the Mikasa white stacking plates but only the large and small one. Can't find the mid size one anywhere and it appears they have discontinued making them. But I am sure we can come up with a nice look with just the two anyway.

My whole Christmas decor this year was snowmen. I love yours. Somewhere I have my Sisters blue garbed snowman. I hope I find it next year!!

Oh, PF, what a treat to find your post with your snowmen. You have some really cute ones too. I really like that silver colored tree too--what is it covered with? And what a cute little felt snowman--you made that? That is so great. I too love your picture, and those are great looking tassels too. Thanks for posting your "early" Christmas pics. ;o) Luvs

Luvs, the tree is actually pink, it is covered in a pink crushed crystal with a large floral arrangement attached to the side. I thought it would go nicely with the snowmen. Usually I have a 36" wreath with a felt bear in a pink felt dress in place instead of the picture but forgot to put it up this year. Glad you liked them.

I purchased it at a furniture store - Heilig-Meyers but they are no longer in business. I will get my husband to take it down and will check the back to see if it has any info that might help you locate it. It is a beautiful print with seven mats including brass mat bands. I have tried for years to use other colors but a soft rose pink and a soft sage green is my favorite. I always gravitate to anything with those colors even though I love the deep reds and beautiful blues. Will get back to you later today.
