small bathroom renovation on a budget
Comments (13)Hats off!!!! Styles may come and go but your bathroom will never be out. In 40 years it will still look quietly elegant. We're thinking of doing emperador dark or light in our master. Is your marble possibly one of these? It looks fantastic! I love it when I can find pictures like this to show my husband, coz then he just says, "OK, let's get that." :-) Standing in a store looking at 40 different tiles out of context just doesn't do it for him. Also we thought we'd have to use something different for the floor because the emperador is polished. We thought we'd do slate for the floor, but I sure do like the look of just continuing the emperador on the floor. How slippery is it when you step out of the shower?...See MoreDIY budget elegant bathroom, almost done: pics...
Comments (95)I'm very sorry I did not answer the questions from the last few years... I've been out of reno mode for a while :) It's probably too late, but here are the replies: @walkin_yesindeed - the vanity finish has held up just fine. However, it's not the original paint. We sanded and re-painted with new Ben Moore bathroom paint. No issues with dampness (we do run the fan for every shower, though.) @kirkhall - I have NOT been happy with the touted un-stainable-ness of the epoxy grout on the floor. I mean, it's better than regular grout, but it didn't stay white no matter how much I cleaned it. It looks fine, since the tile is multi-toned, but it's definitely not still white. The shower grout, however, has held up extremely well. @SparklingWater - I don't recall the demo being terribly difficult, but that may be because I knew what to expect from other parts of the house. It was tile over a dense cement. @MrsD - I think the grout color is standard white. @MayaEoff - Our tub is the standard 30" size....See MoreBudget Bathroom- Quick fix?
Comments (24)One of the reasons I was hesitant to do the brown/blue combo, as Dianolo said, is because it's been so overdone. I hate those brown towels with the blue cirlces. It screams Wal*Mart to me. Not that I don't like Wal*Mart...but I don't think anyone wants their design scheme in their house to reflect a super store lol. Our wall tile has flecks of brown in them so the I think brown walls would look alright, it is probably what we will end up doing. Thanks for the rug idea Live Wire Oak, I actually never thought of it but I'm a fan. It would be nice too because there are no ducts running to the bathroom for heat, it gets heated with the hallway register. A rug would be much more pleasant in the brisk mornings. Thank you everyone for all your suggestions....See MoreBudget bathroom design feedback
Comments (15)Not quite sure what you decided on the sink, but I would definitely pass on the Biscuit one. It's a lovely color and sounds like a great deal, but you will be glad in the long run if you install while. Much easier to update too. We bought the Memiors Stately pedestal sink for our son's small bathroom 10 years ago and installed a recessed medicine cabinet over it. My husband installed the medicine cabinet. It was time consuming but it's gorgeous and classic, and there is stil plenty of space around the sink itself to accomodate the things my kids cannot be bothered with putting in the cabinet: tooth brushes, including electric ones, toothpaste, including the empty-ish tubes, contact lens cases, fluid, deodorant, cups & clippers, you get the idea. I don't think you need to worry about the porcelain fixtures "matching," the fact that they are white is enough. Enjoy your new bathroom!...See Morentruro
