small bathroom renovation on a budget

I got a lot of ideas of this forum and wanted to post my pictures (wasn't able to reduce the size on all the pics) to encourage those who have small bathrooms. The bathroom is so narrow its hard to photograph especially the shower. The shower has a flat kolher pan which Lowes ordered and the kolher doors were in stock.

I ended up using marble because I was looking in Home Depot and tile guy told me some one had returned 52 cartons of marble which he would sell me for $7.50 a carton rather than the normal $28.50 a carton. I sold some to my carpenter who did all the work and kept the rest. He build the shower bench and niche. I had a local country cabinet builder make my recessed cabinets and the cabinets for the counter top. The counter tops are corian. The shower hardware is delta from Lowes. It is affordable, simple and with a single handle you can have full blast hot and full blast cold.

Its beautiful! I love all the storage and counter space you were able to get into your narrow bathroom. Everything looks great and well planned choices. Bravo!

Thanks to all! I had to make last minutes changes with the choices I made, but I think they all worked out well. I felt bad about he cast iron tub - but it had to go! It seems it must have been a big deal back in the days. Most of our neighbors had the same bath. I must say I love going in there just for another peek. I can't believe what it was before! And to be able to stick to a budget makes it even better. There are Alot of great choices out there. This site helped with a lot of inspiration pictures and great suggestions! Thanks to all !

There are too many variables to be able to give you a reliable estimate. You'll want to get estimates from at least three contractors. Ask around for referrals from friends and others who have had work of this type done.

I have a very small bathroom myself. I don't even have a miniature vanity. Just a sink on the wall. I was able to fit a small table 9" deep, in front of the heating vent. There is a top shelf even with the height of the sink and a bottom shelf. Every little bit helps for storage and organizing in a small bathroom. If your door swings would interfere with even a 9" deep table you could try a demilune table. Love the Orange accents! Here is a link that might be useful: Demilune Tables

Why don't you look through pinterest for a few hours and save the images that you like. I am sure that it's not impossible to imagine a modern midcentury, also contemporary, also boho and also minimalist style, also organic, all in one room, but if you keep looking on pinterest, maybe you will find it. Your general ideas are so broad, it's hard to help at this stage. You might also provide a budget, in order to help those that can help you here. Also, it will definitely help to post a layout of the space, along with pictures, and let folks know what you are willing/interested to change about your layout. Finally, I'm letting you know this is the remodeling forum, which will certainly help with many technical questions. But for design/finishes help, you're probably better off in the Bathrooms forum.

For future reference, if you hit "return" between the html for your photos they'll show underneath each other instead of all strung out on the same line.

Great job! Do you mind sharing what your total cost was?

Weedyacres I don't know how much it cost because I was doing other renovation at the time. I tried to keep the costs down and did save money on having the wonderful cabinets built locally but it was a big deal to install the recessed ones. Because of their large size a header had to be put in. I also had him put in a pocket door to give me a little more space, overhead vent in the shower and wall space heater which has been wonderful.

Hats off!!!! Styles may come and go but your bathroom will never be out. In 40 years it will still look quietly elegant.

We're thinking of doing emperador dark or light in our master. Is your marble possibly one of these? It looks fantastic! I love it when I can find pictures like this to show my husband, coz then he just says, "OK, let's get that." :-) Standing in a store looking at 40 different tiles out of context just doesn't do it for him.

Also we thought we'd have to use something different for the floor because the emperador is polished. We thought we'd do slate for the floor, but I sure do like the look of just continuing the emperador on the floor. How slippery is it when you step out of the shower?

Slateberry51: The marble from Home Depot is from China it is also at Lowes in just one or two colors. I don't know the actual color. I have a rubber backed bath mat that I put down and take up between showers.

Another very narrow bath here, and I hope to have the same cabinet maker who just did my kitchen make the vanity (non-standard size). So if I 'steal' your photo of the medicine cabinets it can be done to match. :D
