Getting calcium streaks from windows?

Our front window developed a pressure crack and moisture got in between the layers of glass.Since replacing the whole window isn't an option for at least another year,we removed the inside window.Problem is that the condensation between the panes has left streaks of what appears to be calcium or some mineral deposits.we have scrubbed,used vinegar,CLR,and every cleaner we can think of,but to no avail.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what could remove these streaks.

I need help..please...

I have a set of windows that gets major spotted from shallow well water - sprinkler system mist floats around in a courtyard twice per week. Makes nice rainbows! Makes lots of spots on some windows too.
Nothing was cleaning those mineral deposits and I really needed no light scatter as there is a network camera aimed out one window pane.
One day I used one of the dish sponges with the 3m scotchbrite type pad on the back, on the window in front of the cam.. That scotchbrite pad cleaned exceptionally fast and easy with just the hose, a bottle of liquid dish soap to squirt on the sponge rather than caring a bucket. Instant fix ... did all the windows there and have done those windows several times & don't see any scratching from that rought stuff.
Might hurt your lowE coating if you have it on one of the interior glass surface though.

Hi Eliza, I don't know if this might be same than what we had. When getting this house inspected before buying, the inspector explained us about some vertical "stains" in one of the front glasses which we thought were lack of cleaning. As the outside brick wall was not properly maintained, and the weather hits badly on that side, some kind of mineral had "leached" from the wall on the glass. The glass had to be changed, as there's only one known chemical capable of quitting it, which is not used anymore for being extremely hazardous -as per the inspector said.

I don't remember the name of the mineral, but probably it is in the report. If you wish I can pull the report, and see if it's in there.

This might not be your case anyway, and I hope not!

Anyway, maybe you can try in a tiny piece if those little knifes to remove spots of paint on glass does the trick?

Tclynx, The 'feed store' idea sounds good but there aren't any of these stores close to my house. I live in East Fort Lauderdale and I'd have to drive to Davie which is about 15 miles or more away. Not complaining though, and I would do it if I couldn't find a calcium source nearby. A day or so ago I crushed several oyster shell calcium tablets (which I take) and worked the powder into the soil around each plant. I'm one who is constantly checking to be sure the soil is nice and moist around each plant. They are also well-mulched but not too close to the main stem. I think it's true that an over abundance of nitrogen will make the plant put out too many leaves and not enough fruit, correct? The plants are looking healthy and blossoming. I try to use a balanced fertilizer and do like to use organics. Just yesterday I discovered some of the leaves with holes in them and noticed a little green worm on the underside of a leaf. I didn't have any BT on hand, which I really prefer to use for this problem, so used some Sevin type dust. Didn't want to, but didn't want the worms to get out of hand either. I hope to get some CG or oyster shell calcium soon. Tony, you use this calcium carbonate on your tomatoes as well as in the pool? What a versatile product! Thanks guys, Sheri

psfw, I am putting home in the market early next spring. So Window cleaning in one major fixes in my to do list. This has worked very good for my wife and myself--my wife is allergic to every other commercial cleaning products so she uses vinegar and water solution spray and wipes the glasses and mirrors with "News Papers" or other papers--believe me it does wonderful job. I spray Windex and wipe with papers/news paper --and it does work fine and gives extremely clean and fresh looking windows. Hope this helps. Jim

Hi Michael, Thanks for the response. I'll sand it down and use the 123. That's what I had at home, but of course the ICI guy had to sell us on his instead of the Zinnser...can I put a bit of Floetrol in the Gripper to make it friendlier so I can use it rather than scrap it entirely? And PHEW about the application technique...A question about the wet-to-dry: I use rollers on the walls and have never had problems with lines or anything...could you please explain wet-to-dry, as in let's say you paint 8" of moulding. Then you put more paint on the brush-do you start where the paint ended or do you start, say, 8" *away* from where the paint ended and work back to the end of the last brush? Just so I can be sure. If I start where the first 8" ended, I get a ridge...thanks in advance. Off to sand.

White streaks over paint after awhile?

I would think it's dust. I used to get a white dust from a humidifier, something to do with minerals in the water. Does it happen all over the room or around the window? All seasons? Are there air vents around? I don't think it's your paint but what are the walls made of?
