Do I need grout sealer on really SMALL grout lines?
Comments (4)Is there grout there? WIll there be overspray from some boy children? Or guests? Or DH? Um hmmm. Sealer. And don't forget to keep it sealed. It's not a once and done project. Every time you clean, you will strip a bit of sealer. The harsher the products used to clean, the more sealer they strip. If water doesn't bead up in those grout joints, it's time to be resealed....See MoreGrout that won't come clean
Comments (13)Mold that is on top of the grout or tile can certainly be cleaned. Mold that is in or under the tile cannot. The lanlord needs to scrape the grout and regrout and seal, as well as replace the caulking. You cannot clean mold out from under caulking either. This is normal wear and tear in all homes. However, since this is not going to happen, do what I did. When getting ready to sell our house with our bathroom that needed this done, I purchased this stuff at the home improvement store. Sorry, I don't remember the name of it. I used stuff that you grout over the top of what you have and wipe off but I found it to be alot of work and did not last. I preferred this stuff in a small bottle that you paint on and let dry. It was about $5.00 at my local Menard's store. It was really smelly so I would do it at least a few days before your inspection. It's cheap enough that you may want to give it a try in a small area to see if it will help. Good Luck....See Moregrout with sealer - ie. Fusion Pro single component grout
Comments (30)This guy doing the tile is wonderful. He's very good at what he does and he's meticulous. He's actually the contractor's assistant. To his credit, he's doing the job the actual contractor hasn't done, even though he's been paid nearly double for an incomplete job that has taken 4x longer than expected. The contractor has been avoiding me and knows I'm upset. Several people, including Home Depot and Home Hardware, are urging me to contact police because this contractor has been fraudulent. The assistant is maintaining integrity by keeping his word, even when his boss isn't. (And the assistant is the real reason I haven't called police. He doesn't deserve to be roped into this.) So I don't want to annoy this assistant. I'm heading out to Home Depot this morning to get the grout he wants and two more edgers. I've done grout myself before. I'm no professional, but I may just try to use the Fushion Pro myself to finish off this area and allow him to use the regular grout in the other areas of the bathroom....See MoreBest Material to Wipe Excess Sealer Off Tile,Grout?
Comments (8)well, i did the first coat and it was not bad at all. but i think it was partially easy because i didn't "apply liberally" enough!so the there wasn't much to "overflow". i guess a floor is easier than backsplash, too, because of gravity! i will try to go heavier on the 2nd coat. good idea about cutting up the rags - i used an old hand towel and it "whipped around" a bit -- plus i couldn't remember which part i used already! round two in about an hour. thank you both - you gave me more confidence. :)...See MoreUser
