Seattle area cabinet shop recomendation...
Comments (7)You might want to try Kenis Lovin--I considered having him build cabinets (painted inset shaker style) for my kitchen remodel, and visited a local home where he had built and installed similar cabinets, which were very nice. In the end I went with Crown Point instead, but not because I had any issues with the quality of his cabinets. I don't know if he does QSO or not. (http://www.kenisloven.com/) Or, if you aren't completely sold on a local cabinet maker, you might want to get a quote from Crown Point. They have a gorgeous line of Craftsman style cabinets, and I found that the price they gave me was in line with quotes from local custom cabinet makers, both for my kitchen cabinets and some bathroom cabinetry I am having them work on right now. Not inexpensive, but not as bad as you might think. Good luck! Here is a link that might be useful: Crown Point cabinets...See MoreWetlands in Seattle - please help. URGENT!!
Comments (25)I'm not clear on the type of wetlands the property has. I live w/i 30 minutes of Seattle....a ferry boat ride away. Is there actually standing water or is it just a really wet area on the property where moisture loving plants grow? In my area, I would say that a good portion of the properties have wetlands restrictions. I would be OK w/ the non-standing water type wetlands, but probably wouldn't want a pond since we have young children. As far as mosquitoes....we have a ton on the property we are renting. The house is backed by wetlands and a seasonal stream. The mosquitoes are seasonal and there are times we don't use the deck to avoid them. Dusk is really bad. I suppose you could use repellant. Friends of ours bought several of those mosquito propane things that are supposed to keep the bugs away. I'm not convinced they work. We change into long-sleeved shirts and pants at the first sign of mosquitoes in the day. This seems to work for most of us, though dh is a mosquito magnet. If you plan to be outside around dusk, the best thing you could probably do is add a screened porch. I doubt you'll find any home in the PNW w/o mosquitoes on the property. It's just a part of life in this geographic region. You probably will have more on a property w/ wetlands. Building and planning laws vary by jurisdiction. We can't build close to an area designated wetlands. I doubt you can either, but this is definitely something you would want to ask the county....See MoreAny real customer cabinet maker in the great Seattle area?
Comments (6)Thank you all for the great input I will check them out in few weeks. We will start demo at the beginning of March. I hope I can stay in budget. have done remodel before, knowing I have tendency to go over:). I have Omega cabinet(overlay door with ivory paint and glaze) in our hall bath, they are very good, but not great. I was wonder why it was not appealing to me after installed. I finally find out that all the cabinets I loved haveinset doors, which I was not aware and did not told by the designer I bought the cabinet from until I discovered this forum. For what I paid to get Omega, I would have got better cabinet. but I have to say I have no complain about finish and quality for passed 3 years. But it is hall bath, it get used when my Mom over to stay or our friends stop by occasionally, and no kids in the house. I am on the eastside too...See MoreShopping for granite in seattle
Comments (12)Hi, over here on this side of the lake too. We are working with a contractor and sub, and got our tiles and soapstone slab from Pental-- zillions of types of granite slabs, and approximately 30 soapstones. (I don't envy the task of choosing a granite--there are so many beautiful stones!) We also looked at DalTile, Meta, and also Lakeview Stone. All about 2 miles apart, down in the South Seattle area. My understanding was that none of those places would give you price, only a range as larry noted--except Lakeview. I've heard good things about Michael Homchick in the Bothell/Kenmore area. (I believe he's a fabricator) Best of luck to you Here is a link that might be useful: homchick...See MoreMFatt16
