CD Fridge too small for families?

Just wondering if there's anyone with family and a counter-depth fridge who is finding the capacity a limiting factor.

Not really sure if I want/care about CD, but a few of the models we like so far happen to be CD. My biggest concern is capacity. We're a family of 5. I've got 2 young teenage boys who can devour the entire contents of a standard refrigerator is mere minutes. I fear that getting a CD fridge would mean storing less, meaning shopping more.

At the other end of the spectrum are a few 32 cu ft models that are 3 ft deep. I fear things would get lost way in back and emerge months later, green, fuzzy, and sentient.

What's the good "happy medium" depth for fridges? 30"? 32"? What size would stick out a reasonable amount, but not too far?
