Help me get off my hands and knees to clean my laminate floors!
Comments (13)I think you might like the Shark Steam Mop. It works great on any kind of floor mess that I've run across, and I imagine it would do fine with dog drool. I clean up all kinds of sticky, gloppy kitchen messes off my maple hardwood floor....it is amazing how dried up stuff dissolves with the application of the steam. If you like the effect of the vinegar on your floors, spritz some on the floor before you use the mop, as you can't put anything but water in the mop chamber. The Shark has a microfiber pad that you can toss to the floor and then put the mop right on it, as the velcro will grab the pad. You really don't have to bend over at all while using it....See MoreCongoleum Floors
Comments (1)I used Holloway House Professional concentrated wax remover & Super Cleaner- it didn't have any ammonia- important to me as I have had "chemical pneumonia" & nearly died. This was several years back when I got my dad & I was going to get some new Congoleum for the bathroom. Ha!! It was $50. a square ft. So I got that cleaner & cleaned the old wax off, it wasn't hard to do & just used Brite on it, I find with Brite I don't have to strip it hardly at all. It doesn't yellow. Don't know if the company is still in business or not. Also with all the "green" laws & changes the formulas on most products are changing so might not work as well as before. Open a window or run a fan when using any of this type product (or oven cleaner) as it can really affect the lungs! Oh, both bathrooms have Congoleum & both still look great, no nicks or anything they were made to last!! 1 looks like stones in light cream with slight greenish cast other is beige white, don't know how to describe. Both pieces were leftover from homes where dad installed it & people did not want to keep leftovers, salesman had really over estimated but they allowed employees to take home these pieces, it's all 1 piece no seams. We had new home & no money & cheap 12in. tile, builder wanted to install, dad flashcoved it so if toilet runs over it won't ruin the walls before you can get it mopped up. Good Luck!...See MorePlease Please help me decorate my great room...need to order furn
Comments (21)You asked: I hate it. The bottom one looks like someone took a traditional, wicker sofa and wrapped it in leather. Those very formal, old fashioned arms, and bun feet, don't go with the eclectic, casual style of the upholstery. The shape of the red sofas is much more appropriate, but it would be better in all leather. Leather is great with kids so long as they don't have sharp things in their pockets and can be trusted not to poke pencils into it. It cleans up with water and saddle soap. But it does stick to bare skin, and can get hot. It's nature's vinyl. Which is why they combine it with fabric. Bad move. Either be fabric or be leather. The weight and texture are too different and they rarely come out looking great, especially after some living happens. The red bench is cool! Less imposing than a sofa table (console), but with a lot of the same function. And it's folky and funky. My Aunt had the two sofas flanking the fireplace in her living room. It's a great conversation grouping, but not so much for TV watching. For that, especially for the kids who probably look at the screen more, you want a straight on view. You can do a big square, though. An L of couch and settee or second couch or loveseat, and a couple of small easy chairs that are easy to get around on the opposite side. You have your red chairs. I'm not sure if they're too big to allow people to walk by easily if you close up the square, but even so, you can always pull them over for company, and keep them by the piano for family time with running kids. Re Larry, have your other family members sit tested him? I totally agree about the shape. It's very tired. But that LOVE thing is important. Your family room couch should feel Ahhh to sit on. I'm sure it'll still be there though. Maybe you can find a similarly comfy couch in a more classic shape that will give you more breadth of possibilities. Comfort comes first, but it can be done with a little more style than poor Larry. ;-)...See MorePlease help me review my floor plan
Comments (14)Thank you all for the nice comments. I am so excited. This is my first time doing a remodel and the last.Lots of good points made, now I am going to have to rethink some of this, darn it! LOL Thats all I have been doing for the last 2 years and driving my husband crazy. I dont think I can get him to talk about it ANYMORE! I see the point about the dishwashers, Ok how about putting 1 dish drawer with the other dishwasher? LOL I dont know why I think it would be really great to turn around and throw in a bowl, measuring, pan into a close by so not walking around to the other side. I wish the china cabinet could go into the dinning room but there is no room, its small. I agree about the wine glasses getting dusty, the last thing I want to do is dust anything. The reason I had the idea of the seperate counter area was because the china isnt that big. Each door will be narrowere than the wine fridge, so I didnt know how to make it look right with three doors being unequal sizes. The refrigerator that is shown is the all refrig from sub zero. I have planned the refrg/freezer door in the island and I do have an upright just outside the backdoor for the main storage. My husband wants me to put in another ref/freezer drawer on other side of kitchen for drinks and ice but I thought that was excessive. I am worried I will miss the sink in the island, its a big concern. I was thinking the fridge landiing and oven landing would be on that end of the island and thought the sink would get in the way. The other end is where I have planned to have seating....See Moremc_hudd
