What's the minimum size for double sink vanity?
Comments (8)For more than 20 years we used a master bath vanity that was only 58" long. The two sinks were the self-rimming variety that ate up extra counter space, probably 2 1/2" per side for a total of ten inches. So what we were really left with was about 10" of counter space divided between the two ends and the middle---ok for the tooth brushes and toothpaste but not much else. Undermount sinks in this amount of space, and there are many beautiful ones 18" or less, would have given us a total of about 20 inches of space but we just never got around to making the change what with orthodontists and saving for college for the kids. We did have a bank of 4 drawers down the middle of the vanity that was about 6" wide in the interior and amazingly enough we did find this sufficient for storage for what we really wanted near the sinks. The major issue for us really was one of elbow room since the vanity was in an alcove but generally DH and I weren't brushing our teeth at the same time. Overall I would say that with 60" of space and undermount sinks it would be a real plus for a resale as long as elbow room didn't seem to be a problem....See Moreis 5 ft enough for a double vanity?
Comments (7)We have two sinks going into a 55 inch vanity that will be used by my four daughters ages 10-20. We will have a black granite countertop and Kohler Caxton 2210 sinks, which is the middle sized Caxton (a plain sink perfect to undermount with granite) and I believe the bowl will be 17 by 15 inches. I plan to have the granite fabricated so that it is over the edge of the bowl by about 1/4" all the way around just to give me the look of more counter space. However, I didn't want to size down to the smaller Caxton sink (14" by 12") because that size is really too small for use on use on a daily basis. There will be only 12 inches between the sinks and they will be about 4 inches from the sidewall (and it's four inches because of the way I'd like to have the granite cut around the opening). The ugly shell-shaped cultured marble sinks were even larger than this, 19 or so inches wide and 15 inches from front to back, so this is a major improvement for us. Plus, the less counter we have, the less clutter my daughters will leave on it. We will have a GFI outlet installed sideways in the backsplash corner near each sink. Two 20 by 26 inch mirrored recessed medicine cabinets will be installed above the sinks with two three-light fixtures above those mirrors. As you can see, we have a lot going into a very tight space. Cabinets are white, walls will be pale pink. I hope this helps!...See Moredouble sink vanity mess--HELP!
Comments (5)Pulling off the traps and snaking didn't help? I can see a P-trap leak being caused by snaking, it could certainly jar a fitting just enough. Do other fixtures in the room as well as your other rooms drain well? Any gurgling when you flush the toilet, or if you flush a toilet in another room does the water in the bowl of this toilet shimmer at all? Properly vented? All too often I'll see someone stuff a rag or wad up a bit of insulation to plug a drain stub-out during construction instead of using a proper plug. Several times they've disappeared...down the drain. Oops. Do these sinks have grates over the drain hole? Those can sometimes cause a little vacuum action as water leaves the bowl and that little vacuum can prevent proper draining. Do they have pop-up drain stoppers? Those can sometimes interfere as well. But not usually. Do the sinks have an overflow hole? Sorry for all the Q's. But 75 weeks? Wow....See MoreWhat size light for a 5' double vanity?
Comments (0)This is for my girls' bathroom. I will have a large mirror placed above the vanity and one light centered above that. (Probably I should have wired for a light over each sink, but I don't think it is a big enough issue to rework electrical / sheet rock...) Anyway, what size light should I center over a 60" vanity? Anita...See Moresas95
