Is 5' enough room for a double sink vanity?
Comments (21)We have both. We did 17" Caxton everywhere and 15" in a son's bath because he has a smaller vanity - I still think it is 36" though or there about. The 15" is fine. I think it would look dinky on a larger vanity but not if you have 2. We also did a faucet with a single entry hole which also saves room and looks nice. Our vanities were custom but our cabinetmaker was able to finagle something to get two drawer stacks on either side of the sink. Drawers are small - would't be great for a girl, but plenty wide to put a comb, deodorant and toothpaste in. I think the drawers are 5" wide in the interior. We did a single door below the sink also. It works well and is very functional. We also added a medicine cabinet to the side wall but this may have been overkill - he has plenty of storage....See MoreWhat size light for a 5' double vanity?
Comments (0)This is for my girls' bathroom. I will have a large mirror placed above the vanity and one light centered above that. (Probably I should have wired for a light over each sink, but I don't think it is a big enough issue to rework electrical / sheet rock...) Anyway, what size light should I center over a 60" vanity? Comments (49)It appears that you only have one wall for your kitchen as the islands, due to your constraints (we all have them), can not be usefully incorporated into the kitchen That window wall then must have the fridge on it instead of across the kitchen. You use the fridge a whole heck of a lot more than your ovens. When you bake something it stays in the oven for anywhere from 30 mins to 2 hours. A fridge you are in and out, in and out, in and out. Walking across that kitchen to the fridge will get old fast. Put the fridge where you currently plan on putting the ovens. Put the ovens and the pull-out broom closet in the area where you plan on putting the fridge. You now have the ovens and pantry near one another. If you do a lot of baking, put a prep sink and trash pull-out at this end of the island by the range and this area becomes your baking center.. The broom closet does not need to be taking up valuable working triangle space. Your prep area will probably be between your fridge and sink. Left center your sink on that wall with the DW to the left of it, close to the dinette area for clean-up....See MoreWhat would you do 2.5 extra ft? Redesign my 5 x 7 bathroom to 7 x 7.5
Comments (8)benjesbride I absolutely LOVE this idea! Is moving a waste line more of an issue than moving the plumbing lines? I've always hated that the toilet is right at the door and would like to add a partition wall between the would be new vanity and toilet location. There is a vent in the rear of the existing shower (from bottom to top of building) that is about 12" wide. It's goes all the way to the end of the foyer closet. That leaves us with about 72" of space along the foyer closet wall to add a toilet and vanity. I think the toilet requires 30" so a 42" double vanity (or two smaller single vanities). We cannot have washer/dryers in this complex (old 1950's plumbing). But I've always complained about no linen closet in the bathroom so that works too. I'd like to move the door to the foyer; however, that would require a split vanity due to the heating pipes in the middle of the room along the wall behind the existing door. No, we are not adding a bedroom. That may be a later addition though, years from now. An neighbor converted the rear of the living/dining area to an office/bedroom (photo below). I've tried to adjust the floor plan to add the vent/shaft in the rear of the shower. It may not be worth the time and expense to open up the foyer wall if we can't get a great layout....See Moremimi78
