tile experts - installing cove wall base on out of level floor

Calling all tile experts!

I am installing subway tiles with a 6x6 cove base on top of my marble basketweave floor. The floor has one high point that will be hidden mostly behind the toilet. We tried leveling the first row of tile at the high point but ended up with a 3/8" gap between the cove base and floor at the most visible point of the room. We think our next option would be to shave down the tops of the cove bases at the high points of the floor to make a level line. These cut tiles would pretty much be hidden behind the toilet. What do you think?

Obviously the best solution would be to have a level floor - but it is too late for that!
