We actually have two of these models, the other is now 7 years old at another house we own. We have always had good luck with KA appliances. Even after our bad experience with this one, we likely would have replaced it with another KA. Before this dishwasher we had an older Bosch that didn’t dry well (no heating element). My wife really likes this dishwasher. It cleans and dries well and holds a lot of dishes. We really didn’t want to replace it. Thanks also to everyone on this forum who posted pictures and comments. They were all very helpful. Forgot to mention the most important thing. Before attempting any appliance repair, be sure to get permission from your significant other! Mine couldn’t be happier.

Ah-hah! Im glad I measured the yeast now. I thought maybe there was a difference in brands, but if mfrs did that, it would mess up so many recipes that call for 1 packet. I waited 2 hours last night (yawn) before putting the bowl in the refrigerator but I didnt see much rising then. I used warm water and covered the bowl all around with some towels to keep it warmer. I would have left it out but I could not stay awake any longer. Since I have the baking stone I was not going to use parchment, thinking parchment might affect the crisp crust the porous baking stone is supposed to be good for. I have corn meal around (somewhere). But if parchment makes no difference to that tell me. I dont think I have an instant read thermometer but have the kind with a spike that you stick into meat, and my husband has this fancy gadget with a beam he got as a prize at work: you aim it at a surface (like the grill) and it tells you the temperature. But room temperature is easy enough to tell. Though it wont be warmer than 65 F in this house. Front of the stove is a smart idea. terrapots, I will think of your "Shadow" while mine sits next to me. Her blanket is a foot to the right of the keyboard but if she feels neglected she starts encroaching on the mouse. If I still dont give her enough attention she will stand between the keyboard and the monitor or walk on the keyboard. Thanks for the tips!

Next time, maybe you could try the water and sugar in the mixer bowl first, add yeast, mix well, let stand 5 minutes - then start adding in the flour, a cup at a time, the butter, then the salt. I usually use the paddle/beater attachment to mix the ingredients, switching to the dough hook for the last cup or two of flour. Knead with the dough hook on speed 4 for about 5 minutes after all the flour is in and your dough should be ready. There are many different methods to reach the same end. This is just what I do when mixing bread recipes in a mixer. Now.....what will be the next recipe you try? Teresa

I never had had this problem but this is what I found on line-don't know if it will help you at all but thought I'd share it: "I finally solved the dishwasher odor problem. My washer stopped working and none of the panel lights would work. I called the repairman and he went directly to the connection box behind the front panel. I asked why he first checked there. He said anytime he goes to a home that was probably built at the time of aluminum wiring, he checks it first. I picked up small pieces of the charred electric line insulation and smelled of it. Yep, that was it. Poor copper wire to aluminum fitting. Now I feel safer and no more fish odor." Hope someone else has an answer for you. Good luck.
