Kohler CImarron vs Toto Drake toilets

We're doing a complete remodel of our dated master bath. Salesman at local bath fixture supply store says the Kohler Cimmaron with class 6 flushing technology is just as good as Toto and over $100 less expensive. We have two other Toto toilets and love their dependability. Anybody have a Kohler Cimarron and can comment on dependability and completeness of flush cycle?

cindyonthebay, Kohler toilets have some of the best television advertising ever. The Kohler Cimarron is good at geting the big stuff down the pipe. However, numerous comments in the toilet forum at Terry Love's Toilet Forum -- http://www.terrylove.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?3-Toilet-Forum-discussions -- suggest that if you have a Cimarron you will need to perfect your bowl brushing technique to alleviate what is delicately called "streaking."

Toto ("Dual Cyclone") and Inax ("Dual Vortex") toilets flush the big stuff at least as well as the Cimarron, and leave the bowl with fewer "streaks."

I considered both and ultimately went with the Kohler Cimarron when we did our master addition. We live in an older house, so this is my first experience with a low flow toilet. It flushes differently from my other toilets, but it gets the job done. I have never needed to use a brush other than for normal cleaning just like I do in the other bathrooms.

Many people on this forum seem to really love their Totos, and I'm sure they're great, but I wanted to let you know that I've had a good exeprience with something else.

Toto designs and makes excellent toilets; we purchased one (Vespin II, the skirted version of the Drake II) ourselves when we remodeled one of our bathrooms a little over a year ago, and it is the best toilet we ever have had in a home. And Toto has been in the North American marketplace for some time, so a lot of Americans have heard of and owned and used Totos. But Inax, Toto's major rival in Japan, designs and makes toilets that are every bit as good as Toto toilets, and some would argue that some Inax models are better than their Toto counterparts. Inax (which got its start early in the 20th century with an American connection when Frank Lloyd Wright wanted a custom specialty tile made for a major commission for a building in Japan) only recently has begun to establish a North American toehold, so you will not see as much discussion of Inax as of Toto; but those who have bought and used Inax toilets are just as enthusiastic as those who sing praises of their Totos. (Both Toto and Inax use American-sourced internals: flapper valves, etc., in their North American models, so parts availability is not a problem with either.) No doubt that janesylvia would be happy with a Toto; but she would be every bit as happy, maybe even happier, with, say, an Inax Dover one-piece or the less expensive two-piece Inax Rio Grande, which can be had in a dual flush configuration. I didn't like the small water spot, and I had trouble knowing when the flush activator button had reached the right point. I swapped it out for an Inax Cedar, which is single flush but only 1.28 gallons. Love it!" Inax makes a dual-flush version of the Cedar, I am pretty sure. The Inax "Rio Grande" is a dual flush, but I am not familiar with the styling of the Cedar; is it similar to the Rio Grande?

I never heart of a Toto toilet but I need to look into this as I need to replace three toilets that are over 24 years old. My bathrooms sinks, tubs and American Standard toilets are a bone/Navajo White type of color. I wish I could change everything to white but that would be too much work to change everything. I wonder what colors they come in?

I've had a Kohler Cimarron (1 piece, 1.6 gallon flush) for over 10 years, and it's behaved like a champ. Never, not once, a clog or problem. It's on our main floor, so it gets a variety of customers and guests, and it's been great. For our recent renovation we got the Toto Soiree (thanks, Cat_Mom) pretty much for the look, and I wanted a skirted toilet, So far so good. But I wouldn't have hesitated to get another Cimarron.

With my new construction (late 2010) I was so confused on what toilet to purchase that I purchased (1) Kohler Cimmarron, (1) Kohler Devonshire (1) Toto Drake.

The Cimmarron is the Class 6 and it has a really good flush, the Drake also has a good and powerful flush. I really think they are pretty similar. The Devonshire I don't like at all. I am sooo sorry that I put it in my powder room that will be used mostly by guests. It flushes good - but really doesn't seem to have the power like the Cimmarron and the Drake.
I read poor reviews on the Cimmarron - then found that it had been improved - so I thought what the heck- put it in the 2nd floor mostly unused bath - but, I've used it many times and like it.
