Yes, I have determined it is a yellow pitted ring. I look at it with my eyeballs and it looks yellow. I feel it with my fingertips and it feels rough, unlike the rest of the sink. I don't know of any other 'test' to determine if it "is really a yellow pitted ring". I haven't changed the lighting to anything different in the room. I haven't used any new cleaning products or let the sink become stopped up or soaked something in the sink. The ring is midway between the rim and the drain so it is not rusty water that pooled in the sink. We don't have iron water here anyway. It is not a build up of some sort giving the rough feel to it, it has very tiny pits in it sort of like an orange peel. I can't for the life of me figure out why after ten years of living here the sink would suddenly get this weird discolored ring in it. The sink is one that is attched to the wall and I am thinking that maybe there is a stress fracture in it and that subsequently something discolored it. Why the discoloration won't come out is a mystery to me. I hate to throw out a perfectly good sink just because it looks bad. I am tired of explaining to guests "Oh the sink is clean, really it is, it just has that icky looking ring in it that won't come out." The tub and the toilet are fine and don't have any rings. If something pitted and damaged it as Premier said I can't think of anything that would be that caustic that would have eaten into porcelain, and why the whole sink did not get affected. And why does the ring line dip down in a "V" on the side of the sink that is against the wall? Even if I get a new sink because I can't stand looking at this one anymore, I would like to know what caused it, so a new sink won't go bad on me.

I promise to read more myself - but selfishly can you tell me where I should be looking//what is most important to deduce in terms of the lead testing? I see Signature says "some (but not all)" .. So assuming that is the issue? Comparatively - does something like Kingston Brass seem to check those boxes better? I see for them: Certified to Joint U.S./Canadian Standards. of Safety, Reliability & Durability (ASME A112.18.1CSA 125.1) Certified Lead-Free and Drinking Water safe. (ANSI/NSF 61/9)

Mine are mostly small things -- like using a glass compote to hold cotton balls in the bathroom -- or a cut glass tumbler to hold q-tips. A hinged CD holder (similar to the tissue box above but a double version) used as a spot to store extra TP. I have a dresser that is a TV stand for our exercise room and the drawers have my gift wrap rolls and ribbons. A home office armoire that was going to be my craft and gift wrap station became a china cabinet when my dad moved and I suddenly acquired another set of china and crystal and I wasn't ready to make decisions on getting rid of anything. I have an old radio cabinet that I cleaned up and planned to put a new shelf and door in the top, but the stained glass panel hasn't been made. I'm thinking about painting it and redirecting it's new life for another room now. Another one I haven't done buy we've talked about a couple of times is to put a pull out bed in a window seat to add a guest bed in our gameroom. I think the inflating mattresses are going to keep that one from happening -- take less room and are probably cheaper and more comfortable now that we no longer have a sofa with the pullout mechanism to repurpose. If a new thread is started, we should try to link this one at the top so these ideas and photos aren't lost -- st least as long as we can.

Hi, Mr. Rachiele, I know how you feel about divided sinks from what you've written on your website. [grin] The Vault actually does have offset drains, though you can't tell from the photo I've linked. I have thought about single sinks since so many here like theirs, but I have been cooking and washing dishes for many years and I know how I work, and a divided sink is best for the way I manage my dishes. A low-divide sink would allow me to wash and rinse large pans more easily and still give me the functionality of the permanent divide, which I need (I do not want a plastic wash basin).
