I believe I saw some pitchers like you are describing at Dillard's. It has been quite some time ago, though.

Hi2all...my Mom's birthday was August 12, and she was the SUPREME Goddess Dishaholic!!!!!! She would have LOVED this forumn, and y'all would have seen dishes that you would have never imagined...some of them dating back to the late 1600's!!!

Jaybird, I don't remember seeing a sunflower yellow pitcher, but a couple of monthes ago I was in Kohl's and they had a lot of openstock dishes in that color (and other bright colors). I do remember seeing accessories, but don't remember what or what color. Patty_cakes said the other day that Kohl's was having a big sale on a lot of different dishes and related items. Hopefully someone will be able to help you better.

Your mother's dishes sound wonderful. What a treat that would be to see them. By any chance do you have some, or maybe pictures of what she had? My mother loved dishes, too. I think that is where I get my obsession. She controlled herself better than I do, though.

If you can't find the yellow pitcher you're looking for, consider using a clear glass one and painting the inside of the pitcher the color you need.

My Mom's birthday is also August 12th. I hope she's wathing over me as I do all this decorating and T2T stuff as she's the one I got it from.

Sounds like our Mom's really left us an inheritance for love of "pretties", and yes I think they are watching and smiling!!!! If I ever have access to a camera, y'all will be inundated with pictures...I have tons of things that you would like to see!!

Do you have a Cracker Barrel, they always seem to have sunflower dishes, pitchers etc.

You know, Kohl's had allot of Fiestaware in all the colors. Can't remember if there were any pitchers or not. You would think so since those are pretty popular.

I love old dishes. I've bought a few plates that have that cracked aged appearance. I just hang them on the wall and enjoy them.

I'm not sure where my crafting gene came from--one sister sort of likes to craft, and a couple of Aunt's did some. They all enjoy seeing what I have come up with though.

Gosh ,the only sunflower yellow pitcher I can think of is the fiestaware type of dishes, all the other pitchers that I have seen lately all have designs on them.

My mom has one basic set of dishes forever....we are totally opposites, she thinks I am very strange when it comes to my "decorating obsession", she actually doesn't even know how many dishes I have. Lucky for me she is in another state so she has no idea what the "ugly truth" is. She would just flip!!! I have to pay my DD an annual sum to keep the truth from her. LOL

Judith, that is too funny! Isn't it amazing how we can grow up in the same families and yet have such different tastes in things! No right or wrong--just different choices. I bet your Mother would drool right along with the rest of us if she saw your beautiful tablesettings and vignettes. Luvs

Luvs, no, she would just admire a nice setup, but she would not understand my need for multiple "looks" LOL She thinks that there was a switch of babies at the hospital we are so diffierent in our personalities. The only problem with that is that we look exactly alike, so there goes her theory. I'm sure she feels she "failed" somewhere along the way. LOL

She always said I had champagne taste on a beer budget. (Well that part is true LOL)

Don't get me wrong she always set a "proper" table, but it just never varied, the pretty things(china/crystal she owns has been in the china cabinet for years, never seeing the "light of day" so to speak. LOL She had a beautiful table crocheted many, many years ago that she had asked a very talented friend to make, it has never graced the table, because "it might get ruined...." Oh well, she has other great traits though. (smile)

Judith, you hit on something that I think is so sad. People pass away, and have lovely things still in the original box, unused. They had been saving it for something special...

I have to remind myself that it was their choice, but I've seen so many lovely things that were saved and never used. Unfortunately, sometimes the ones who inherit the items have no interest in them, and get rid of them as "junk".

I went to an estate sale this morning on my way to work and bought 12 GORGEOUS brand new condition damask napkins....ooooo they are lovely!! for the great sum of $2.00!!!I ran out of time, but will go back at lunch and check out a couple of more boxes to see if there are any other goodies that I can't pass up!!

That's exactly why this forum is so great! The desire to create pretty tablesettings will encourage us to pull out our pretty things and use them! And don't wait for company to come--no one is more important than your own family!

So what if something gets spilled on it--even if it won't clean up, at least you used it and enjoyed it! Better than never using and enjoying it, then having someone else use it when you are gone! Life is short--make everyday special and use and enjoy the things you love. ;o)

And Luvs, you are so right. My grandmother saved everything for "good" and never got to enjoy it beyond seeing it packed when she changed the tissue paper every so often. I begged her to use it so she could enjoy it, but she enjoyed just knowing she had it. I guess I inherited that from her, but I'm trying to do a little better.

Okay ladies, I did finally make it back!!! I went back to the sale on Friday and found a lovely hemstiched linen table cloth, had a couple of stains which came out with an overnight soaking in BIZ...$1. I also found a lovely small round cloth/large doily...had tatted trim and a beautifull embroidered letter S...50 cents. I cleaned it up and gave it to my friend Suzanne. I got two more crocheted small doilies and 3 really pretty hankies with emboidery...all of which were stained, but came clean in Biz...10 cents for the whole handful!! I thought I did pretty well! On Saturday we went to a couple of sales, but I didn't find too much. Bought a box full of glassware in DD's pattern...some were scratched up pretty badly, but some were perfect...got the whole lot for 2$. DD was happy....some were sizes that she didn't have!
