the Miele Master chef Speed Oven is by far top of the line. The Miele will cook night and day different than the GE.

These higher end ovens cook the foor more evenly. I know this units well. I work on several a month anyways.

I would recommended the Miele over the Bosch. In my opinion Bosch does not make good ovens.

Miele ovens used to be very accurate. More recently people have been reporting that they cannot find and hold a temperature with any reliability. They've been told that the oven uses some kind of algorithm to figure out the temperature rather than a temperature sensor, and that it can be wildly inaccurate, making baking a problem. I haven't seen any bad reviews of the speed oven, though.

There's a huge difference between interior volume of an oven and usable volume. With that kind of interior volume, and a 27" width, it sounds like the Bosch doesn't have convection, which takes up some volume. Convection is what lets you use several levels at once.

Your best bet is to look at these in person and figure out how you would use them. Does your turkey roaster fit? How about your baking pans?

Do you cook? Do you bake? Why is pretty your number one consideration?

Are you putting in a new kitchen? Or retrofitting? If you can manage the extra 3" you'll have a lot more choices, plus, when it comes time, years down the road, to replace it, you'll have a lot more selection. Thirty inch has become the standard.

Again, let me suggest to "Appliance & Refrigerator Repair" that He takes the time to read GW posts on Miele Ovens!!!!

Pillog's post is in complete agreement with other posts that we find about the "Current Miele Ovens", and in fact one poster, even said his "circa 2002-2005" Miele ovens were "Off Temp" (Low).

One poster who has the problem with the low temps, has been told that a "Software fix" is "forthcoming" and they want her to wait for this "Fix" before replacing or buying back her oven------Do you personally know of such a fix or is She being given a "Snow Job"---Here's your chance to be
some "Real Heip"----Course we got Good Ole "Reliable",
"Tell it like it is" Antss, that may be able to shed some light on "The Miele Software Fix" Too!

I would wait and see how Miele addresses this problem, and it does seem to be a signifcantly large problem.
(Witness the Landlord who bought about 68 of the Miele ovens) and the tenants are complaining about low temps and taking too long to bake-----Hopefully He made this problem well know to Miele, and just didn't tell his tenants to
"Shaddup & Bake" (LOL)

We are of course glad to see Appliance Sales and Service ppl here on GW, but perhaps some of you should look at the example Trevor sets, Most of his posts are quite factual, and He bends over backwards to help folks here, not just
"Spreading Propaganda" as was done in this post!!!!

I know what a Pita it is to havta change out an appliance as I made a huge mistake buying a 36" semi circle smooth top cooktop, I had to even redo the granite--sooooo---
If we can save any user from having to replace ANY Oven with a different brand, I'm all for it,----as most of us know, more than likely a different brand oven, just won't
"Drop In" where the former oven was----Ya Thinks???

I have read the posts about the Miele problems which is why (besides the size) that I'm probably not going to get the Miele for the large oven. I was under the impression from posts here and other reviews that people were NOT having problems w/the Miele speed ovens. I've only heard good things.

The Bosch is "Genuine European Convection". The salesperson did say that Bosch does make ovens w/very large interior spaces.

Pllog-Unfortunately we're just doing a facelift so all my new appliances need to fit in the old spaces. This is not making it very fun to find new ovens and a new fridge! I was hoping to be able to get a 30", but the cabinet itself is exactly 30" and at the countertop it's actually a little less.

I bake (not bread, yet). I love to cook, but admittedly do a lot less than I used to (I have 3 under 6), but plan to cook more and more.

Oh, do start baking with the kids! Kids love baking. Sometimes it means mixing things up ahead of time, and letting them stir in (or mash in with their (clean) fingers) the goodies, but even the little one is old enough to do that, and to make blobs for drop cookies.

Have you checked out Electrolux? Cj47 bakes and is very happy with hers, as are a good few other members. Additionally, I haven't heard complaints.

I think you could put a Miele speed oven (I also haven't seen complaints) with an Electrolux oven. That should look okay. A Monogram Advantium should look okay too. They all have similar design cues, with the bar handle, rectangular window and rectangular control panel.

I got the Miele Chef series speed oven and the 27" chef series wall oven in Feb of 2010. I have not had any problems other than the standard learning curve of having a new appliance. I bake a ton. Today I made two loaves of wheat bread and ciabatta for dinner. All came out great.

The people talking about Miele problems I believe all have the master chef series. I wonder if the chef series and masterchef ovens have different software...?

I would buy both of these appliances again without hesitation.

Thanks plllog...I do bake w/the kids a lot, I just haven't attempted bread yet. :) I need to look into the Electrolux...I've been to two different appliances stores and the first person I spoke w/didn't like them (I can't remember why), the guy at the second store loved them, but he was intent on selling me a complete Electrolux package so I don't know what his motivation was! He actually told me that it was important to have matching appliances...and this was at a high end, family owned, around forever appliance store...yuck.

Yes, I use my speed oven all the time. I use the microwave daily for my cat's food - he likes it a little warm - he's spoiled.

It's worth noting that the oven feature on the speed oven is only convection. It works great for everything but bread. My theory is the fan blowing dries out the top of my loaf and prevents oven spring. I use my regular oven on "surround" and it puffs great. The speed oven works great for cookies, scones, coffee cake, etc. I use the speed oven on combi bake for casseroles and reheating leftovers. I have used it for quick breads and it works amazingly well. The tops of quick bread don't get evenly rounded, but when you get banana bread in 15 minutes, who cares?

Thanks Risotto..can you see any reason for spending the extra $ on the masterchef speed oven w/all of the programs?

Interesting about the master vs the chef having the problems. I was definitely planning on the chef not the masterchef for the regular oven. Are you finding the 27" oven large enough? It looked small to me in the store. (I was comparing it to a 27" Bosch).

I don't think the oven is small. I can put my 7q Le Creuset in there on the bottom rack. I have baked three trays of cookies in it - two on racks and one batch on the included tray.

We are a vegetarian family and most of the master chef programs are for meat, so we didn't want to pay extra for features we'd never use.

We could have afforded the masterchef, but we couldn't justify the price difference. Before buying the ovens, I called Miele and spoke to a nice man there. He also didn't think I would need the Masterchef. The decision became did we want to spend more to get a different look? We didn't. Sorry, I can't help with the Bosch. I looked at it quickly, but I was pretty set on the Miele.

I just ordered the miele chef oven and speed oven from aj madison, but I think I am going to upgrade to the master chef. The reason is purely extravagant...the knobs on the front. The ovens will be exposed to the kitchen, dining room, living room and visible when you walk in the front door. Although I dont think it's a big deal, everyone, including the architect, is suggesting I spring for the master chef series so that the knobs are hidden. Miele and aj madison are telling me that unless you are an extravagant cook, you dont need the master chef. otoh, I read an article saying if you dont cook much, the programs on the masterchef are very helpful. I dont want any regrets, so I am probably going to upgrade to the master chef, but in the short term I AM going to regret spending the money.

stephct, if you are pairing a miele speed oven and a different oven brand, are they near each other? I would love the speed oven and gaggenau oven, but I am afraid the ss will too different between the two to put side by side.

Rockybird...I was thinking about the Miele speed oven w/the Bosch 500 wall oven. The Miele would be over the Bosch. I need to go see them both in person again to see what they would really look like together.
