Need more info to answer right....

It really depends on how you use your shower. We're installing ours on the same wall as the showerhead. My husband has back issues, so occasionally it would be nice to have a lot of water hitting and massaging his back - which is why ours are all lined up.

Hmmm, let me see if I can try to describe the shower better. It's a three-wall alcove shower and the fourth wall will be all glass with a door. (The shower is a 3' x 4' rectangle with the glass wall being 4' in length.) We were planning to install the showerhead on one of the 3' walls and the body sprays on the opposite 3' wall. I hope that makes sense.

Debbiejoy - what is the brand of body sprays that you have and are you happy with them?

we're doing our exactly as you described yours. we have 3 of the kohler tiles on the opposite wall from the shower head.

Srg215 - how far apart are you planning to space each watertile? Are you also installing them vertically?

we are installing them vertically. not sure how far apart they are...maybe a few inches between...our contractor just did it and i didn't even ask.

We have 3 sprays and they are roughly positioned at the knee, waist, and shoulder area.

We Chose Grohe Movario - if you can, try and check out a showroom, we were surprised how different the sprays were. We Chose the Movario as it had a pretty powerful function (it's two function) as our purpose was massage on my husband's back. We're installing now, so I'll let you know how it works out.

My shower is 42" X 60" with the shower head at one end and three body sprays at the other end, placed at about knee level, lower back level, and just below shoulder level.

The door into the shower is at left end of the longer wall (the body spray end), with solid wall to the to the right of the door. We planned it that way so the controls for the shower could be mounted on the inside of the solid wall to the right of the door. This allows us to reach in and turn on the shower and body sprays, before stepping into the shower. Believe me, even with a hot water circulation system, you don't want to be in the shower when you first turn on the water, unless you like an icy blast until hot water makes its way to the various spray heads. Be sure you can reach the shower controls while standing outside the shower. While our arrangement doesn't allow as much light to enter the shower from the bathroom side, we have an operable skylight in the shower and recessed lighting, so it works well for us.

Our system has a thermostatic control with separate valves for the shower head and body spray array. This allows the body sprays to be turned off while lathering up, which would be difficult while they are spraying.

A couple of other things to keep in mind with body sprays. Each emitter dispenses 2.5 gallons per minute, the same as a regular shower head. If you plan to run the shower head and three emitters simultaneously, you'll be using 4 times as much water as you would with just the shower head flowing. Be sure you have a hot water heater capable of keeping up with the demand, especially if you like long showers. Also, be sure that your plumber uses valves and piping sufficiently sized to maintain water flow with adequate pressure, and that you have a shower drain sized properly for the flow of water.

Following up on wa8b's comment on flow - there are different options if flow is a problem - we found body sprays as low as 0.6 gpm so there's a pretty wide variety.

We are just now tiling our kohler car wash of a shower. We installed 4 water tile sprays, 2 on each wall vertically. They will hit is at the neck upper back & lower back areas. They are 10" inches apart. We also have the 4 tile ceiling mount above us and 2 shower heads.
We put in a tankless water heater so we will never run out of water. The problem is the flow rate. We had to have a 60 gallon stand tank hooked up to the shower only so we can insure the temp & pressure. My plumber will come back after we get it working to tweak any problem.
I don't see us ever having all of the tiles going at the same time, so hopefully it will all work.
Are any of you done & using them yet?? I can't wait to see it all in action. Pictures please. I will definitely post mine when it gets done.
My shower is 5 x 6, so plenty of room, a mini cooper could probably fit in it!!!

mariofo, Are the body sprays on the 5' or 6' walls of the shower? is there plenty of pressure for the water from both walls of body sprays to bath a person standing in the middle of the shower? Is it strong pressure form both sides even while standing in the middle? Thank! Bill

Personally, I prefer water on me from all sides. I am designing my shower with two heads just above the shoulders aimed straight down for someone who is standing. There will be two more similarly positioned for someone sitting down where there will also be jets for the back. I think I would also like to install a set of misting/fog heads.

Each set will have individual controls. There will be a full on/off control so that the temperature and pressure settings remain set for when I take a Navy Shower.

Under the seat will be a pressure washer hose to wash everything down.
